Official CU vs TCU Game Thread - 10/4 @ 5:30 MT on FOX

It is starting to look like Prime's coaching prowess only extends as far as his team's ability to completely out athlete the other team. Equalize the talent and his team gets beat. So, not a great, or even good coach. Great brand ambassador, above average recruiter.

He was the right pick at the time, and could still be successful here, but RG needs to force a competent staff on him. There is no threat whatsoever at this point someone hires him away, not at 13-15 overall.

The problem is RG would not likely know competence if it smacked him in the face. He hired Kardboard Karl and was going to replace him with Bronco Freakin' Mendenhall. I still can't believe that. The second problem is Prime isn't about to swallow any pride and listen to...anybody.

So, we get Salter. We get Shortbus Shurnur. We get Prime's buddies as AC's, some are good, some are not. We get players because their Dad's are Prime's friends, or he coached them back in the day. It ends up being a grab bag of a really talented roster that massively underachieves.

What’s your point? People are calling for Prime’s head. My post was a reminder that the program is in way better shape today than before we hired him.
That bringing up those teams is an excuse that distracts from a painful reality. CP is a bad head coach. You're going to be 2-6 but "We're in a better place now, so we can't make a change." Not wanting to risk losing good players to keep a bad coach is certainly one way of looking at it. Your coach needs a coach. And mind you, I'm not saying he should be fired, I have no idea what the cost would be. But this is a game thread of yet another painful loss, of course people are going to be throwing haymakers at the coaches.

Are we more athletically gifted?
I don’t have the time to look up the recruiting rankings, but I’d bet that based in average rankings, CU is considered more talented than Houston or TCU and probably on par or slightly better than BYU and Ga Tech.
We have gone from being a team that can’t recruit for ****, but sometimes plays over its rankings to a team that has talent but can’t put it all together in gameday. Not sure which is worse, but the results look pretty much the same.

Does CU have a general manager? CP needs his Ron Rivera to hold the staff accountable and to help with all the things he's clearly not good at doing.

You can easily win with Prime if you are spending money. We have depth but where's the star talent. If we had the budget and landed starters, we would be unbeaten. Would have landed Mensah.

I think we need some sort of exorcism or something. The Broncos and Buffs have had some sort of evil spirit sabotaging games.

I believe CU has the highest rated roster in the conference. Obviously Shurmer+Salter=Ass.

Way back, like a year or so ago, someone posted that CU has one of the best NIL budgets in the Big XII. I would really like to know the effing truth! We just made Prime one of the highest paid coaches in the NCAA yet I hear we don’t have money for NIL.

Was that strictly because of Travis’ and Shedeur’s NIL?

Well by that logic we can win with anyone if we can spend more money. Pick a coach, any coach, if you can buy enough players.

They used most of their NIL for HS recruits, Oatis, and Salter.

So if he has better players than the other team he can win? There are only about a 100 CFB coaches who can do that.

CP is a good recruiter. CU has, IMO, better players than GT, UH, BYU and TCU. And CU lost all four of those games. Mostly because of poor coaching. It has been evident ever since the Stanford game in 2023. Prime and his staff are not on par with their opponents in coaching prowess. I hate to say it, but it is rather obvious at this point.

Sburmur and Salter combine for something like $2.2M for this year. Should be getting vastly better results from both of them for that chunk of change

If we were just Alabama and the best team with the best players we would win everything. Are you saying we just need to spend more money? Isn’t it Coach Prime’s job to coach up what we have? These are his players now and his team.

He did call a bad game. Single handedly killed at least two drives with 2nd down bubble screens. For a former OL coach he really hates running. Welch, Hayden and Miller and the line were cooking, and Shurmur ignored that. Salter is to blame for 3INTs but Shurmur put Salter in that position.
Yep. Once they start crashing the box, throw the ball over their heads. We keep setting it up and it rarely materializes.

Facts! CU has a better roster than Indiana, yet IU is ranked. That's coaching

I don’t know what you Prime haters want. Without Prime we may have been left in the PAC-12 dust. CU doesn’t have enough financial support to be an Oregon, an Alabama, a Texas. You fire Prime, and with it goes Juju and the WR talent, and the Texas pipeline, and the IMG pipeline, and all the talent we do have, and all of a sudden this is a 63-10 blowout.
Oregon State fell to 0-6 with a loss to App State today.

Their best player is probably Anthony Hankerson.

They're headed to a conference with CSU.

That was where we were headed before Prime was hired

lol at the people calling for Prime’s head immediately after a 9-4 season. We all lied to ourselves when we said this wasn’t a rebuilding season
I wasn't lying to myself, I was believing Sanders.

I still have faith in him, but it's being severely tested.

You're making things up. You don't know the future. Because CP turned the program around for 1 year, nobody else possibly could? That's your "logic"? And OSU's best player is Trent Walker.
