Buffs open Pac-12 play today in a road game that is definitely a swing game for where each team might finish in the conference standings.

Utah is 9-3, but has been very uneven and is in much the same position the Buffs are in. But they don't have a win like Xavier on their resume and come in with an RPI at a lowly #174 despite the good record.

Buffs, 10-3, have climbed to #59 in RPI and a road win would put them on the right side of the Tourney bubble if they selected tomorrow.

Of note: Kyle Kuzma, Utah's auto-double-double guy (who also leads them in assists) is still hobbled with an ankle injury and it's unlikely he is close to 100% even if he plays. That presents a major opportunity for the Buffs. Also helps that Utah's great home court crowd won't be as loud as usual since the students are still on break.

The Utes lost to USF at home. We should be able to take them. It will be a telling game.

The Buffs need to repay Utah for that last second home loss last year. I hope this team hasn't forgot about that and they come out focused.

I think that was at a Christmas tourney in Hawaii. Regardless, they didn't look like a normal Utah team.

Well, lets see if our guys have figured anything out. I'm not very confident.

Not looking so bad here. Making shots. Decent ball movement. However Gordon is in foul trouble and Utah has some tall trees ...

utah's size inside a problem right now. stopped hitting hsots, but are taking 3s.

Interior defense is atrocious. Buffs can't keep Utah out of the lane. Good thing they're not draining wide open 3s.

So the first half of the first PAC-12 conference game is finished. We still have a half left to speculate. Any positives?

I'm really worried about shooting. Offensively, this team is not built to win if it can't knock down 3s. There's very little post game with this group and they're so bad at finishing when they drive into the lane.

And defensively, Wes is not good guarding a post-up guy. He allows deep position way too easily and it's hard to be effective when the guy is catching a half step from the block/charge circle.
