Yes, week 7 and between the NFL and the colleges we have football all week.

Last weekend managed to pack a whole season’s worth of surprises in a couple of days. Not content to have one or two top ranked teams lose, college football gave up a whole slate of them.

Going to be hard for this week to match but we will have some ranked teams lose because a number of them are playing each other.

Ready for Tuesday football? Liberty (4-0) is trying to run away with the C-USA hosts Florida International (2-3) who might just want to run away.

Wednesday New Mexico State (1-4) is at Jacksonville State (2-3). Jacksonville has won two in a row, even with a win, New Mexico State is a candidate to not win two games all year. At least Las Cruces has good chili.

Thursday has the good and the bad. The good is a Sun Belt battle between Coastal Carolina (4-1) visiting James Madison (4-1.) The bad from C-USA Middle Tennessee (1-4) is at Lousy (oops) Louisiana Tech (1-3.)

Friday has a bunch of games. The two of some note include a B1G battle of the mediocres. Northwestern (2-3) has yet to beat a P4 team this year. They travel to Maryland (3-2) who has managed to beat one. At least Maryland doesn’t have boring uniforms. Ugly but not boring.

Finally getting a game that matters in the Big 12 (16) Utah (4-1) is in the desert at Arizona State (4-1.) Utah, like a lot of ranked teams, is coming off a loss but had a bye week to try to heal up some of their many injuries. Meanwhile the Sun Devils have been putting up points in bunches. This one could be important in the final conference standings.

Early Saturday games don’t jump out but as we saw last week there are always some surprises.

Wisconsin(3-2) has been less than impressive going to Rutgers (4-1) who has barely pulled out a couple P4 wins before losing last week at Nebraska.

Georgia Tech (4-2) at North Carolina (3-3) is usually a good game but both of these schools have be less than impressive with Carolina losing their last three. This may be a make or break game for both schools seasons.

Best early match might be Washington (4-2) at Iowa (3-2.) Washington trying to get used to the Big Ten, Iowa is already used to having one of the most pathetic offenses in college football.

Cover your eyes for South Carolina (3-2) at (7) Alabama (4-1.) Alabama is coming off a huge upset loss to Vanderbilt. Meanwhile South Carolinas last outing they got blown off the field by Ole Miss. With something to prove Bama may do some Bam-Bam.

Mid-day the schedule gets very interesting.

Louisville (3-2) has lost two in a row to fall out of the rankings. They go to Virginia (4-1) with multiple close wins but look to get one step closer to a quality bowl.

The big game though, one of biggest every year is the Red River Shootout in the Cotton Bowl. (1) Texas (5-0) is considered much better than (18) Oklahoma (4-1) but in this game, going back to the Big 7, Big 8, SWC, Big 12, and now SEC days has never been predictable. It would be no shock to see #1 go down again as this game is on another level as rivalries go.

Flying far from the scene of their crimes, (4) Penn State (5-0) is in LA to play USC (3-2) who is again falling short of their talent and expectations.

Arizona (3-2) is at (14) BYU (5-0). Arizona a couple weeks ago knocked off ranked Utah only to follow up by losing last week to Texas Tech. BYU is the surprise of the B12 so far but the oddsmakers aren’t buying them with them only a 3.5 point favorite in this game at home.

Early evening Florida (3-2) picks a bad week to go to (8) Tennessee (4-1) coming off their upset loss this week.

As big as the Texas-Oklahoma game is it isn’t the headliner this week.

That goes to (2) Ohio State (5-0) at (3) Oregon (5-0.) Oregon gets the chance to prove they are for real. Not just a flashy team in ugly uniforms. Last week they looked like Banana slugs with prison tattoos. What atrocity will they bring out this week.

If that one gets out of hand you can change the channel to (9) Ole Miss (5-1) at (15) LSU (4-1.) Ole Miss is favored but Death Valley is never an easy place to play.

Another team looking for B12 control, (11) Iowa State (5-0) is at West Virginia (3-2) winners of their last two games in another stadium which is a big home field advantage.

Among many a good choice for blowout of the week has (21) “Misery” (4-1) at UMess (1-5.) UMass is terrible, worse than a lot of FCS teams. Missouri fell all the way to #21 after getting beaten up by Texas A&M. This is likely to be a statement game for the Tigers.

Garbage game brings us close to home with the Mountain Worst Conference giving us co-garbage games of the week.

Sad Diego State “of confusion” (2-3) at Wyoming “Wybother” (1-4) Aztecs may lose from the shock of leaving the beaches of Southern Cal for the empty prairies of Laramie. Wyoming only has a win because they got to play Air Force. Their only other game that was even competitive was a loss to FCS Idaho. Meanwhile SDSU only has wins against Hawaii at home and mighty Texas A&M commerce who is winless at the FCS level.

The other is Air Farce (1-4) at New “old” Mexico (1-4) as in the same old losers. Air Force in 5 games has scored more than 7 points twice. Once against Wyoming and the other against a weak FCS school that has given up points in bunches. The Lo-Blows have only beaten New Mexico State and lost every other game, most not close.

Somehow CSU isn’t even one of the worst teams in that league but they like their opponent this week still haven’t beaten anyone of note. Colorado State (2-3) hosts San Jose State (4-1.)

Northern Colorado (0-6) is at Weber State (3-3)

Weber State hasn’t beaten anyone good. They still won’t have but they will have beaten UNC because everybody beats UNC

It wasn’t just the big schools with major upsets this past weekend. Colorado Mesa beating Colorado Mines is a small school equivalent of Vandy beating Bama. The RMAC still has ranked schools but the rankings are shaken up.

Games this week have (12) Colorado Mines (4-1,2-1) hosting South Dakota Mines (3-4,2-3) and trying to get back on track.

Clearly on track (13)Western Colorado (5-0,3-0) is at Black Hills State (4-2,3-1.)

Conference leader (16)CSU Pueblo (5-1,4-0) gets an easy week at Fort Lewis (1-4,0-3) which still hasn’t won a conference game this decade.

I miss the mid-week MAC games we used to get. They were usually competitive.

Last nights game ended up close with OT but wasnt great until the end. Tonight New Mexico State is so bad that he game has been boring from the start.

Decent game on FS1 Northwestern out to 17-0 lead before Maryland figured out how to play offense. 17-7 at half, could be closer.

And easier to watch since Maryland left the clown suits in the closet and has uniforms that look somewhat normal.

Still waiting to see what disaster Oregon wears out there Saturday..

Cam Rising ain’t close to being healthy. The way he’s carrying himself and setting in the pocket is not right. Dude is going to get hurt for good out there. 😬

Yeah, a buddy said it was his knee. He can’t even hit a check down right now. Wittingham needs to pull him, this isn't a good look and it’s just hurting him more.
Whittingham wanted to make the playoffs so bad and then retire and thought Rising could help him do it, has to just move on the Frosh and think long term. Also has 6th year Tight Ends

Kinda want the Utes to win this one so they'll have a better record when they meet us. Rising look DONE.
