Other Games 11/19 - 11/23

Fields fumbles going in for their second TD. Will be PSU ball, but Ohio State looks on a completely different level. Should still be a blowout today

Yea it just seems like that was a temporary reprieve for PSU. They are having trouble containing Fields when he runs plus PSU's tackling hasn't been very good.

Well. 17 unanswered because tOSU can’t hold onto the ball and now we have a game.

On a side note, it’s going to be a travesty if Chase Young isn’t a legitimate Heisman candidate. Best overall player in the country and only Burrow has an argument to be included in that discussion as well.

Young is going to be in the discussion-but I'm not sure how Burrow doesn't win the Heisman and Joe Brady doesn't win the Broyles. Say what you will about LSU's defense-but that offense has scored at least 35 in all but one game they've played (Auburn).

Burrow will win the Heisman because it’s a QB award now, but that doesn’t mean he’s the better player (hint: he’s not)

I'm not trying to argue he is because I agree with you-Chase Young's the better player and its not close. They both have an argument to win the Heisman though. I don't think if Burrow wins the Heisman there'll be any "Young got robbed" kind of posts though.

MWC question for somebody who follows that league closer than I do-Utah State beating Boise at home tonight puts AFA in the driver's seat for that division right?

Not that I follow the MWC super close but not sure that would put AF in the driver's seat because all 3 would then have 1 loss and be 1-1 against the other 2 and I don't know what their tiebreaker rule is. Just a guess but highest ranked team?

They're the only team in that league I sort of pay attention to.

Well that'll do it for this PSU-OSU game. PSU's best chance slipped away with that interception earlier in the 4th

I am so ecstatic over how Tech had turned around this season.

UVA will be tough (they're quite honestly due for a win against us) and Clemson's had our number for the last decade, but I'm enjoying the fūck out of this ride as long as it lasts. Assuming we hang on here, it'll be 5 consecutive conference wins.

You should be. After that Duke debacle they've won 5 of 6, should've beat ND and looking good today in what is a Coastal elimination game.

You should get the ACC's Orange Bowl bid if you beat UVA too

Cool, I guess. I want another ACC championship -- it's been nine years. Unfortunately, we're simply not recruiting at a level to compete with the top team in the conference. But, "any given Saturday..."

I was just about to say that Fromm isn't looking good but he came alive on that last drive with 3 straight completions the last one a dime for the TD

ACC and Charlotte's dream matchup is always VT and Clemson. Not only are they the 2 best traveling fanbases in the conference but both are a short, easy drive to Charlotte.

<hokiehead story> yeah, I was in CLT for the 2011 ACCCG, VT vs (the other) CU. scored great Tix off Craigslist and was like 7 rows up on 45 yard line, but middle of Clemson side. Ehhh, whatever.

Mags and I were sitting/standing next to a fairly cool Clemson couple during the game and exchanged much good-natured trash talking, swapped Lane vs Memorial ticket-scalpimg tips, reminisced on past games, etc... (context: At this time, VT was still top dog in the ACC and CU hadn't win a championship in 20 years). Dude and I exchanged contact info with loose discussion of connecting at a future in-campus game.

Wife and I had made new friends across enemy lines and all was cool.

The game turned on a Logan Thomas pick-6. As Clemson's db was running toward the VT end-zone, my new friend starts jumping and yelling very excitedly (as I would've in the opposite situation). And, as they scored, dude pounds me on the back and gives his new friend (me) a bear hug.

At this point, I close my eyes thinking "ok, you seem cool, but I am 100% definitely not celebrating with you".

He realizes the awkwardness of the situation and starts falling all over himself apologizing. His wife was even more embarrassed.

Clemson went on to win, and the rest is history.</hokiehead story>

I like Dabo, and try as I might, I really don't hate Clemson -- the schools are too similar.

Crazy how Chip has turned around at UCLA. He had looked completely incompetent the first year and half and the last 3-4 games has been a complete different team. They still lack depth, but the talent is there to be a 6-8 win team. Will be interesting to see how he does next year. They are recruiting at an all time low due to his insistent on being smarter than everyone else.
