Other Games 8/31 - 9/4

I recently read a good line about progression of quarterbacking at different levels that I think applies to Sims: in high school, you've got to be able to hit a house, in college the garage, and in the pros a window.

Accuracy fluctuates between high school and college level. Made worse by his read-to-release being a couple beats slow (unlike how decisive he is in the run game). He's a running back who can threaten you with the pass. Basically, he's a a college QB of the 1990s.
Two areas that make the difference at QB at the various levels.

One as you mention is accuracy. HS you are throwing to guys who are wide open and who are a superior athlete to some of the defenders. College you can get open by outrunning guys and again there is a difference in athletic ability, Pros you have DBs who are every bit as good athletically as most WRs.

Two, and a bigger one is decision making. In HS it's usually a case of look for the primary receiver and maybe a safety valve then tuck it and run. College may have a read at the LOS then a couple options. NFL QBs do multiple levels of reads.

With Sims it looks like he is operating at somewhere between a HS and college level. If his guys can beat the opponents on athletic ability then he is able to make his simple reads and chuck it. When he is playing the better defenses in the B1G those DCs are going to eat him for lunch.

We watched more of the Mines vs Grand Valley game, to be honest. It was more interesting than the Nubs-Gophers. Mines looked good, but couldn't win in the end.

Would be perfect if Minny tied it on a botched trick play.
