Other Games Week of 9/29-10/1

Heading to the AFA game today with the wife.

10AM kickoff FTMFW!!! ACK that I'm in a minority on this, but I really dig a game time that allows for other activities that day. I'd have most games kicking off at 9AM or 8PM if I was the decider.

@MtnBuff , anyone else in that area -- areas around the springs where the leaves are turning for afternoon peeping (if the weather cooperates)?

That is why you aren't in the TV business.

First of all, the East Coast (the biggest consumer of TV) is cold and rainy today. Millions of people will tune in ALL DAY- except those parents that have to travel 2 hours to take little James or Jill to their travel soccer game (4 hours travel for a 1.5 hour game). Those parents will find some internet and watch some games during their own kids soccer game via their phone.

Big FOOTBALL schools like Michigan, PSU, OSU, and every SEC team are PLANNING THEIR DAY AROUND their game.

people who live out west just aren't into college football like the South, Southwest, and North/ North Central areas.

When I was at CU from 1991-1995, we planned our Saturday around the CU game.... we had Miami, Iowa, Wisconsin, and others all come to Folsom while I was a student and the entire day was planned around that.

Certainly my personal schedule is not aligned with commercial football.

There was an era of my life when i planned my day, even my weekends, around games. I have other interests now, and a feeling of less time remaining to pursue my passions. Give me an early or late kick so i can cram more into my weekend and still make it to a game. Televised events, I'm good watching on DVR time (ACK that I'm also in the minority on watching recorded sports).

ACK that I plan my Saturday around watching college football and I hate that I do that. Something something addiction.
If my kids have something (gymnastics, flag FB, Hockey, or soccer) that gets handled first. I then DVR the 2 most interesting games to me: Alabama v. Arkansas and Oklahoma, v. TCU AND then watch the Michigan- Iowa game Live (wife went there) and the CU-Arizona game live.

Then at the end of a late evening, because we suck so bad, I call a family meeting and end the day by pull up the Youtube clip of Kordell Stewart throwing the 70 yard TD pass to Michael Westbrook on September 24, 1994.

Due to a contract dispute between Disney and Dish we won't get any games today on ESPN.

**** you Disney.

My kids stuff always comes first. Turns out, varsity golf plays two-day tourneys on Friday/Saturday. I guess at least they tee off at 730?

Drive up 24 then bring 285 back. Top of Kenosha has a pretty view but could be very full of leafers.

Tom Herman is so damn smart and he’s an excellent broadcaster. Listened to him doing the entire New Mexico at UNLV game on CBSSN last night.

Haven't been out of town the last week to look.

A good bet that is always nice with great views is highway 67 from Divide to Cripple Creek then return to hwy 24 by CR1 to Florissant. The Fossil Beds NM has some nice easy hikes to stretch your legs.

Then do as 14er recommended or take the road that passes Tarryall Reservoir to 285.

I actually kind of admire him. We have a family connection to Iowa in that my dad grew up near Iowa City, and now my niece goes there. With CSU's football program being in utter disarray for as long as ours has been, he's been able to basically give up on CSU and just become an Iowa fan. He still cares somewhat about CSU because they're his alma mater, but Iowa has become his primary program to follow.

Kinda wish I could do that with anyone other than CU.

don't forget ...**** you Dish- they are cheap bastards- always involved with pissing matches against networks
How can that happen?

You can legally get out of your dish contract because of idiocy on the part of Disney/ESPN. I would like to handle your case. Everyone should be able to watch college football.

It Dish, notations for aggressive negotiating on renewals, including willingness to go dark on behalf of their customers.

I know Klatt is a QB at heart, but when you find yourself saying that the QB isn't the problem, the entire rest of the offense is, you might want to rethink your 'QBs are never wrong' mindset.

Or Oklahoma isn’t as good as people assumed?
I was gonna say.... we can beat Oklahoma because they are getting HOUSED by TCU. 20-3 in the first 8 minutes of the game. This is like CU-NU 2001 first quarter stuff.

Pretty sure Petras is going to cause a stroke in either my dad, grandpa or uncles if they have to watch him for another 7 games.
