Other games weekend of 10/4 - 10/6 (yes I got the right month this time)

Louisville sucks.

BYU needs a stop, but it looks like they finally woke up.

BYU is not very good and the MWC continues to impress. Hawaii, Utah St, Fresno State, San Diego St and Boise all better than most think.

Down 35-7 at home and I think BYU staff is suddenly in trouble.

Hadn't realized until I looked but they were 4-9 last year.

A loss here puts them at 3-3. The games between now and the season final that look tough are Hawaii (at home) this next week and @Boise so having a winning record shouldn't be a stretch.

It would leave them short of their fans expectations though and they finish the season @Utah. Lose that one (Utah should be favored) and they will have lost to both other FBS programs in their state including one in Utah State that they historically dismissed out of hand.

HC Kalani Sitake must be feeling a lot of heat right now.

Sitake is struggling to get above 500 in year 3. His best year was his first.

Mendenhall averaged 9 wins.

Vegas knows.
While they don't know anything more than anyone else with a computerized analytic predictor, I see aTm beating Kentucky tomorrow. Them playing Clemson the way they did says more about Clem than it did about aTm, but I'm not remotely sold on Kentucky.

GT beat Louisville 66-21. They attempted 2 passes the entire game, completing one for 12 yards. 542 yards rushing with 8.3 yards per carry. Ouch. Louisville is horrible.

I think that Sitake's new approach of focusing on winning in the trenches is the right approach for the type of players BYU can most easily attract. It's the best way to take advantage of their advantages with being older, too. But they don't have enough athletes and their QB is erratic.

Agree Nik, but they have to be questioning where this is going in year 3. They look slow across the board.

4 winless teams left: UTEP, San Jose State, UCLA and Nebraska.

UTEP hosts 4-1 North Texas
San Jose State hosts 1-4 CSU
UCLA hosts #10 Washington
Nebraska at #16 Wisconsin

So BYU... what looks worse:
- Wiscy’s loss
- Cal’s win

The best thing that BYU has going for it is that Jeff Grimes is the OC. As we know, that dude will have the OL playing great and will do great work recruiting - particularly in Texas. That's the part of what it has working that it can't change course on. I don't know Sitake's future, but they need to keep Grimes in place.
