Again, my post was started with "I don't think they belong in the playoff"

My point isn't they are one of the 4 best teams, my point is that they no matter what they do they have no way to prove that they are or aren't. They schedule two P5 teams in their non-con. By transitive power of football they beat Illinois and Northwestern (both on the road) which gives them wins over other P5 schools such as Duke, Iowa, Michigan State (twice), Indiana, Purdue, and Rutgers.

Again, I get why their resume is not top 4, let alone top 10, but why bother calling CUSA, MAC, and Sun Belt teams part of the FCS if there is not path to the championship for them?
Gotcha

The inevitable chaos has started with Clemson losing today but if they win out including the ACC Championship game they'll still get in regardless of what the other teams do.

Let's hope that awful WR pass that should have been a TD doesn't come back to haunt UW.

And to zbuff... USC can play with anyone in the country right now.

fify ... the FCS is what used to be called 1-AA.

One of the big problems with a playoff.

The first team(s) out are always going to argue that they are better than the last team in. No matter how many you include it is always at least one to few for the teams that didn't make it.

If you want 12 or 16 teams in a playoff watch the NFL. College is great the way it is.

Teams like Western Michigan this year and Boise in some other years don't have ground to stand on. They beat one or two mid to lower P5 teams and roll up a bunch of wins against teams full of players who wouldn't be on the two deep at most upper P5 schools.

If you are going to do that why not just include the North Dakota State teams from the last couple years?

One of the great things about college football is that it is about how you did every week over a season, no Mulligans. When the bulk of your schedule is creampuffs you don't belong.

Louisville has lost 3 fumbles in the first half and is only down 12. As long as they don't fumble 3-4 more times, I don't think they're going to have a problem with WF in the 2nd half.

Edit: as I write that they fumble (got it back) and then WF dropped an INT.

USC has some amazing talent, a bunch of guys who are going to be collecting legitimate above the table checks for playing football.

They are still USC though which means that they are still always less than one game from falling apart and losing to somebody who has no business beating them.

Agreed. If USC Alabama played right now, it would be completely different, IMO.

Oh is that typical USC throughout history?

Not as often as UCLA but yes USC has had some years that they self-destructed.
2012 They started 6-1 and ended 1-5 and it wasn't close to all because of injuries.
2013 Under Kiffen they self-destructed, losing to a Washington State team that wasn't close to their talent, Arizona State and UCLA which they had superior talent to.
2014 They flat blew a game at Utah and then later lost to a good but not great UCLA team.
2015 An 8-6 record was well below their talent level.

USC looks much more competent than their self-destructive past. Darnold has a lot of poise for a mistake-prone talented freshman.

USC is really going to test UDub tonight.

I don't think we are going to have much cushion the rest of the year.

will there ever come a day that no matter how many times Arkansas loses (even at home) we can admit they aren't "that good".

Would it be a bad thing for CU if USC won this game (in terms of playoff hopes, not South title)?

USC as a Top 15 team with Washington still in front of us as a Top 10 we'd have to beat to run the table.

Our 2 road losses would be about as good as 2 losses can look, rivaling Wisconsin's 2. Not sure there's a bad result in this game for CU (unless we're talking about the South).
