Other games weekend of 11/17-11/19

What do you guys think of the 9-game conference schedule? We (Clemson fans) were adamantly against it, as was FSU, GT & Louisville, but mainly because we wanted to be able to beef-up our OOC schedule due to the perceived weakness of our own conference. Also because each one of our in-state rivals is in the SEC and counts as an OOC game. The PAC-12 had generally been considered the #2 conference over the past 4-5 years, so you guys would potentially benefit from more conference games...but this year has the PAC-12 looking up at the SEC, B1G, and maybe even the ACC.

Do you think the 9-game conference schedule was a good move for you, or would you prefer to have an 8-game conference schedule which would allow you to choose another OOC opponent of your choice--maybe you could play the Con-huskers on an annual basis again!

I actually like it, mostly because we historically have played tough OOC games. When we were down, it was kinda tougher because we always had the CSU game that should have been an easier game but wasn't, and then 9 conference games that we would most likely lose.

But now that we're better again, I don't have a problem with it.

Initially hated it-We needed all the OOC games against beatable teams we could get. Now, uniformity is bigger. All 5 P5 leagues should play the same amount of league games, and no more cupcake OOC games in November for anyone.

No bull****...USC could beat anyone in the nation at this time with Darnold at WB. That's right-even Bama.

UW seems like the big winner of the day to me-Ohio State and Michigan both half-assed performances against subpar competition. Don't see how they're not back in the top 4 Tuesday. One other thing-I'm tired of seeing Penn State ahead of us in the rankings. Our resume is better. End of story.

See that's where I think we're going to disagree. Even if there are weak OOC opponents being scheduled for November, the teams that schedule all cupcake OOC opponents are being punished. Before their massive scandal, Baylor was crushed in the rankings the past couple of years due to their hideous OOC schedule. I think most serious P5 teams who are scheduling OOC opponents will schedule at least 1-2 good teams. This year we've seen Clemson vs Auburn, Ohio State vs Oklahoma, Louisville vs Houston, Alabama vs Southern Cal, Virginia Tech vs Tennessee, North Carolina-Georgia, etc., and largely because I think the Committee has said "if you evade serious OOC competition, you'll be punished". I guess I'm in favor of the 8-game conference schedule because it can lead to more intriguing out-of-region matchups like those great Texas-Ohio State games that we saw back in the Vince Young days.

Personally, I'm all for more of those types of games, rather than more cross-divisional games like Arizona-Oregon St or Rutgers-Northwestern.

Depends on if the committee values our very strong resume and division title over the head to head against USC. They normally factor in injuries so...who knows.
I think I read the committee also figures in the last time the teams under consideration played in the Rose Bowl. Since we are the feel good story and have never been I think we would be the pick. There was another consideration that I felt favored us but can't remember what it was.

Do you think the Kansas fan boards have a 'Did we just kill Texas football?' thread to go with their 'Did we just kill Colorado football?' thread from years ago? Lol

It's basketball season on the Kansas boards.
