Other games weekend of 9-21/9-23

They potentially play for Florida or Georgia in the SEC Championship, so those teams matter for Bama making the playoffs. If they both lose this weekend, it almost guarantees Bama is playing a two-loss team (at best) in the SEC Championship. Auburn and LSU are looking like 8-4 type squads, hardly resume enhancers.

There is no doubt an undefeated Bama team is a lock, but I do not understand at all why a one-loss Bama team would be a lock.

Why would a one-loss Bama team be a lock? Seven letters CBS ESPN

They have enough invested in the SEC that it would be a major shock for a one loss team from another conference to get in ahead of Bama, or any other one loss SEC Champion.

Because Bama.

Many of the other teams who figure to be in the mix for conference championships are big names too.

Well, there is also a question of when that loss comes and to who. Losing in the regular season to Auburn or something, but still winning the SEC and I say they are a lock. Losing in the SEC CG, makes it interesting.

Rick Leach and his (18) Washington State Cougars my lay 100 on an 0-3 Nevada team that looks like a bad high school team. Might have something to do with having a high school coach. This is the classic no-hoper.

Well done sir ... for the most part anyways. :p

"Rick" Leach? Do you mean the former four-year QB for Michigan (1975-78) who then played MLB with the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays, and who was later exposed as being a notorious coke-head that effectively ruined his career?

Don't know where "Rick" came from of course it is Mike.

Might need to send me to an overheated equipment room to deal with my head injury.

Yes.

Agreed. The SEC is weak. It won't matter though. I think reputation alone gets a 1 loss Bama team into the CFP.

Jalen Hurts is my wife's favorite. I have grown to like watching him because he is so calm when he gets the ball. He just stands there...makes a decision and executes. I guess that is one of the benefits of a 6 star offensive line.

And here I thought it’d be Stidham lighting up the scoreboard, forgetting that Gus gets a semi from running the ball 4% more than a conference that already runs the ball 4% more than the average team lol. Cam or bust.

Nebraska is down to their 3rd string RT, a true freshman who is still needs to add about 20lbs. Their #1 RB is out, their #1 WR (and best player) is dealing with a neck injury and hasn’t practiced all week, two OLBs are out, their starting C is doubtful, and their #1 S is out.

Rutgers isn’t great at very many things but they do run the ball well and have a couple of really good players on both lines. This has an upset feel to it and Nebraska plays @Illinois 6 days later.

For those of you who are interested in local small college football tough times for CSU Pueblo. They will be missing their starter at QB for at least this week and maybe more. Also starting RB Bernard McDondle and their backup QB coming into the season are out for the year. Going to be tough for them to compete.

It's in Lincoln, but if they start poorly, that could be worse than being on the road because the boo birds are out already and the players have been whispering that it's us against them, the classiest fans in the world aren't.

Nebraska hasn't stopped the run yet. If they can't defend the run against Rutgers, they could lose EVERY game left on the schedule. I'm not kidding.

Edit: I don't believe the Huskers are an awful team, just that expectations are insane and I can see this one falling apart against Rutgers. I doubt it happens, but it could.

Watched the Bama vs CSU game in it's entirety last night. CSU didn't suck. Alabama's #28 (cornerback) was exposed. Their Corners were not as athletic as CU's or as CSU's WRs. CSU ran the ball effectively after getting down 14-0. Hurt had big plays and beat them with his feet, as well as a couple nice throws.

Alabama's defense was not what I'm used to or CSU is a lot better than I thought (and I thought they were good even before we played them).

For the small college fans CS Pueblo is in some trouble They lost their back up QB and starting RB (Bernard McDondle for those who follow Denver area HS football) for the season in their opening game. This last game they lost their starting QB for at least a week and probably more on a nasty horsecollar tackle.

Bama has been decimated at LB. Have lost a few for the season and 2-3 others were out last week.

But yes, CSU is pretty good on offense.

It all depends on what everyone else does. As Hokie said, it's extremely unlikely that the other 4 P5 conference champs will be undefeated. And no way an undefeated USF or SDSU gets in ahead of a 1-loss P5 champ.
