Other games weekend of 9-21/9-23

UVA vs Boise St and Utah vs Arizona on tonight
Good matchups.

I'm torn on whether I like Friday night college football. On the one hand, I'm not sure that college football can compete with the NFL on Thursday night and Fridays are better for college schedules anyway since it's only a day off the normal schedule. But on the other hand, I like Friday night to be about high school football.

I can't believe we got the wrong Boise coach.....
Agreed.

I will say, would any P5 team hire a G5 team OC to the HC? Never in a million years. The issue was the lack of vetting of the specifics, which is a Bohn specialty. There is a reason all of the top P5 schools looked at Danny and passed over the previous two years.

I will admit, I was psyched despite knowing how many teams had passed, but it isn't my job to discern the difference.

But if you're like me, there's no way you're going to a high school game on a Friday night, so watching a college game tonight isn't such a bad thing.

Not that my life was empty before there were Friday games, but more college football is always good.

P5 schools have no business fvcking with high school viewing.

Agreed on all points.

I was stoked to get him, but then I started hearing all the talk that Petersen was the real reason for the success. I was hoping that was just jealous talk, but nope.

I've heard this argument before and accepted it without much thought but let's dig in:

Are local high school football fans going to choose to watch a college game instead of their team?

I believe the answer is no.

I'm just not convinced there is much crossover between in person HS football attendance and TV broadcasts of college football.

Boise Coug'd it against Wazzu.

UVa running away with this game doesn't make the conference look any better.

Yeah. Maybe it doesn't hurt HS football and I'm just being a traditionalist.

HS = Friday
NCAA = Saturday
NFL = Sunday
All the good bowl games on New Year's Day.

And that's the way I like it.

I'm a dinosaur. :D

Part of my thing is that I grew up in a small ass town that didn't have lights on our football field (nor did most of the schools we played), so for me, Saturday was for HS football too. (y)

The sun has set on the Boise empire. I don't know if they'll ever cover again.

Do they fall as far as Fresno did after their stretch as the most successful team outside of a major conference?

Hard to maintain the kind of success they have had without that major conference revenue coming in. The university has had to face some budget reductions, the donations coming in to the football program aren't where they used to be.

Agreed. Idk who is better between Mullen and Valor. Pretty close.

Don't know where "Rick" came from of course it is Mike.

Might need to send me to an overheated equipment room to deal with my head injury.
Only if you're related to Craig James (who allegedly killed five hookers).

I don't have data, but i would expect the high school games tomight in Boise and Tempe are feeling the attendance impact.

Speaking of “is it just me,” is it just me or is Utah always ranked #23 every time they’re on TV?

It seems like they're always ranked between 21 and 25. They definitely tend to get back into the rankings much more easily than we do.

Jacob Sirmon, the highly ranked QB who is headed to Washington next year, looks very good on espn u - or 2 - he's making valor look like a h.s. team. Oh, wait..
No doubt, he's talented. It's U, watching it. Dude from Valor, don't jump, easy there. Oh yeah, Borghi is fast lol.
