Pac-12

ya, but I play it for Simba.

Shane moved way up in my estimation after the UCLA game. He was battling. That finish on the play they drew blood while fouling him was sweet. Seeing him after the play looking intense listening to coaching and completely ignoring the blood running down his face was priceless.

*runs to highlights*.

Is simba growing up? (go to 3:00 mark) - why can't we embed to a specific time?

so that makes one good game in his entire CU career?

Rush the Court has a 20 quesitons about the P12

Interesting parts:

2. Which team from the bottom half of the conference has the best chance of coming back and winning the Pac-12?

 • My money would be on UCLA and the Wear twins, but wins at Washington (February 2) and home against California (February 11) will be huge in deciding that.
6. Who will win Pac-12 Coach of the Year?
 • I’m going to go with Dana Altman, but it’s still too early to tell. Mike Montgomery and Tad Boyle would make great choices as well.

9. Which team will win the Pac-12 Tournament?

 • I’m going to take UCLA again. If they can avoid the first round by finishing in the top four, their team sets up nicely to make a run.
10. How many teams will make the NCAA Tournament?

 • Two.
11. Who are they?

 • California and UCLA.

14. How many teams will make the NIT?

 • Five.
15. Who are they?

 • Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Stanford, and Arizona.
16. What seeds will they receive?

 • The Huskies earn a seven seed after a one-and-done performance in the Pac-12 Tournament. Oregon is a three seed after narrowly missing out on an at-large bid to the Big Dance. Colorado barely sneaks into the field as a seven seed. Stanford finishes the regular season strong but ends up second in the final standings, and after flaming out in the Pac-12 tourney, end up as a one seed in the NIT. Arizona really doesn’t deserve to be in the field, but they get in as a six because it’s too big a name to pass up for the selection committee.
Sounds about right to me, UCLA winning the tourney in LA isn't too far fetched after what we saw on Saturday. They obviulsy had a rough start but are workign the kinks out now. Nice to see Tad mentioned as possible coach of the year, I don't really think that Dana Altman has much if anyting on Tad at this point in the year.

Carlon Brown has been our biggest turnover problem. Ski can get very sloppy with the ball, too.

I can't believe Tad hasn't coached him out of jumping in the air before passing the ball. I swear 90% of his TO's come from that.

Oregon won 79-68 at Utah tonight, despite trailing for most of the game. Ducks move to 16-6 (7-3), Utes drop to 5-16 (2-7). As I've said many times, I'm not impressed with what I've seen from Oregon this year, despite their record. Buffs should be able to get this one at home.

Washington beat UCLA 71-69 in Seattle. ****. A UCLA win would have really helped us. Huskies move to 15-7 (8-2), Bruins drop to 12-10 (5-5).

Arizona and Cal are underway in Berkeley. Hopefully 'Zona can do us a favor..

Nope, fired up?

Fans were booing the refs so he couldn't hear anything and he goes "I can't hear a thing you said but all I know is were playing great and I don't know what these fans are whining about but if this game is officiated as well at it was in the first half in the second half were gonna win"

:yeahthat:

How the hell do the officials basically stop the game for 3-4 minutes just to let him cool off, but not even T him up for his meltdown?

Oh wait, they're Pac-12 officials....

Hoops officiating in the Pac-12 is consistently bad.

I can't believe that Zona shot so badly from the free throw line and still won on the road. Cats look like they're poised to go on a run to close the season.

Nice win for Arizona. The 'Cats have lost some close games recently, even dropping two games in Tucson, so I figured we'd see a tenacious effort from them tonight. They knew they had to get the win in order to stay in the Pac12 race, and they got it done. In doing so, it really helps out the Buffs because it know knocks Cal back to 7-3 (and thus, even in the standings with CU). With the win, Arizona moves to 6-4. Sigh, if only UCLA had held on at Washington, the Buffs would have been tied for 1st right now. I'll certainly take being tied for second though.

Washington faces USC at home, so that's a gimme, but then they have to visit the Oregon schools. They'd be in the driver's seat and likely not looking back if they get the sweep in Oregon next week.

Obviously we've got it in our own hands to take care of Oregon and knock the Ducks back. Then Oregon has to face Washington and visit the Bay Area. As I've said many times, I expect we'll see the Ducks fall back down the stretch here.

Cal has ASU, @USC and @UCLA coming up. Bruins should beat Cal in LA.

Arizona and Stanford face off in Palo Alto on Saturday. That's going to be another great game. The loser of that game is basically eliminated from having a shot at winning the Pac, and both teams know it. As we (unfortunately) experienced firsthand, Stanford can be extremely effective in the post when they're executing. They're going to attempt to do the exact same thing to this small/athletic Zona team that they did to us.

This has been a really fun ride for the Buffs in this rebuilding year, and it's about to get even better. Should be an awesome atmosphere for the game on Saturday. Let's take care of business and kick some ass down the stretch! Go Buffs!!

Wash still has to face U of A. Albeit at home.

Did you see Gutierez (spelling) from Cal get into it with the AZ assist coach? They showed on ESPN. He fell into the AZ bench and the assist coach kind of pushed him. He turned and went after the assist coach and the benches cleared.wild scene.

Everyone is likely to continue beating up on each other, but if Washington were to get the sweep in Oregon next week and move to 11-2 overall, it would be tough for anyone to overcome that. If that were to happen, *worst case* scenario they'd be looking at a 14-4 overall record (losing to Zona and @UCLA). Anyone who finishes 14-4 is alone in 1st at the end, IMO.

Still a long way to go, and a Washington sweep in Oregon is certainly no gimme.

As a side note, road trips to Corvallis and Pullman are going to prove to be serious landmines for the various contenders that still have to visit one or both of those locales.

Didn't see it, but it seems like the assistant should be above that.

"Pushed" was a very strong word. "Swiped at" would probably be the strongest thing you could call it...

The assistant coach had a poor reaction via-body language. He did nothing wrong, Jorge was totally overreacting, should have got at least a T if not booted. You can't let players get into the faces of the opposing coaches on their bench. If an assistant coach does that or if he would have reacted he would have been booted and ultimately suspended.

Still. You don't do that as a coach. I have tons of respect for Gutierrez. That guy is one hell of a player and from what I've seen (granted, I missed the episode tonight), plays the way I'd hope all our players would play. He's talented but scrappy and I like it.

Washington's toughest game left might be the in-state rivalry game in Pullman (they haven't fared well there recently). In addition to @ UCLA, home vs. Arizona, and at both Oregon schools. Plenty of landmines left, and it wouldn't be a shocker to see them drop a "gimme" game (USC is almost worrisome tomorrow). This race is going to the end of February and half of the conference is still realistically in it...

Great game last night 'Buffs! Beat Oregon tomorrow:thumbsup:
