It's the big problem with our annual game and the "rivalry" talk. CU is so far out of their league that they have to unrealistically try to cut CU down while unrealistically propping themselves up in order to make any case for this being a legitimate rivalry. It's unhealthy.
CSU's real rivals:
1. Wyoming "Bronze Boot" game. Rams lead all-time 55-43-5. Series is 5-5 in the last 10 with Wyoming winning the last 3. Competitive, closely matched, good rivalry for them.
2. Air Force "Ram-Falcon Trophy" game. Zoomies lead all-time 30-19-1. AFA also leads 7-3 in the last 10, including wins in the last 6. Air Force has been dominating lately, but it's a competitive series that is closely matched.
Compare that with CU. Buffs lead all-time 61-20-2. Basically 75%. Since the series renewed pretty much annually in 1983, Buffs lead 18-6. Right at 75%. CU has won 7 of the last 10, including 4 of the last 5. That's not competitive enough to be called a rivalry. We're also trying to compare a BCS program with multiple national award winners, major conference championships and a national championship with a mid-major program that has an all-time losing record. The only thing that makes it a "rivalry" is that the schools have played a lot of games against each other and are located fairly close within the same state. That and people trying to call it a rivalry.
