Arkansas mascot Tusk sends ‘retirement gift’ to CU mascot Ralphie
Some mascot love late in the college football regular season.www.saturdaydownsouth.com
I just want to know when she’s on campus. Can she kick with both feet??
Can she kick with four feet??
**** PETA. The NY Times article was similar. Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but NPR picked up Ralphie’s retirement. Apparently she runs too fast.
University Of Colorado's Live Buffalo Mascot To Retire Because She Runs Too Fast
Because of her speed and temperament, Ralphie V, the 1,200-pound buffalo who leads the football team onto the field, has created safety concerns for her and her handlers, university officials say.www.npr.org

I understand that a new Ralphie needs training.
I'm not understanding why that training didn't start early enough to have uninterrupted Ralohie runs on game days.
Only Ralphie that I've ever known. And yes, coolest mascot in sports (not sure there's a close 2nd).
So, you like PETA? Interesting.PETA can suck my asshole
I never understood how PETA could mess up a mission that virtually everyone supports.PETA is merely being true to their purported cause. They don’t have to be informed of the facts. The people who pay their bills expect them to say **** like this, so they do. I don’t blame them. I blame the dipshits who contribute to them.
She decided she didn't want to run slow anymore. Animals do have will power and the Ralphie program isn't funded to an extent to have one waiting in the wings. This isn't complicated.I understand that a new Ralphie needs training.

As is the case with a lot of these kinds of organizations (Greenpeace, Earth First, etc.) their mission starts out with great intentions, but people being people, it gets ****ed up somewhere along the way.I never understood how PETA could mess up a mission that virtually everyone supports.
This is where I struggle. Given the state of the football team, Ralphie is one of the best marketing tools that CU athletics has currently. Failure to invest here seems like a missed opportunity..... and the Ralphie program isn't funded to an extent to have one waiting in the wings. This isn't complicated.
It costs a bit to feed the animal, however the constraining factor would be training. You can't just take a full grown buffalo and run with it. It has to be trained from a young age so that gets used to the runners, harness, crowds, etc.. It just wouldn't be practical for the program to be simultaneously training two buffalo at the same time. This is where I struggle. Given the state of the football team, Ralphie is one of the best marketing tools that CU athletics has currently. Failure to invest here seems like a missed opportunity.
I'm also assuming that the most expensive part of raising and training a buffalo are the human resources, and that Universities use cheap/free student labor to keep those costs minimal.
They’re not invested in anything. All they do is respond to what they believe is an injustice without knowing any history or background.I never understood how PETA could mess up a mission that virtually everyone supports.
Yeah but they keep their hard core base in agreement and donatingNo doubt PETA makes a fool of itself over stuff like this. They lose credibility with rational thinking people. They become far less influential as a result.
So it’s more about making money than saving animals. They have become what they say they despise.Yeah but they keep their hard core base in agreement and donating
PETA spent a ton of money putting up a billboard in downtown Houston urging people to stop wearing wool sweaters. This is what a sheep looks like that isn't shorn.
