Hard to connect dots from a smallish stadium to a b12 invite, let alone finding a link between that and our Pac standing. I'm afraid we did this to ourselves, without any help from the goats.

I don't understand how we're nervous about them... All the threads from here and scout seem to say that this should be our most talented team in a long time and we should win this game by a comfortable margin.

IF the Big 12 invited them that would show how thin the ice is that the B12 treads on. And I think they won't be as excited about the game in 2017 on Sept 3rd 2016. Probably be planning fishing trips away from the 2017 game.
If the Big XII invites them, then it's part of a 4 team invite (Houston, CSU, and two others).

Cause they pretty much always play their best football against us. We used to say we have to play like Nebraska and that was our marker on where to be. For CSU we are their marker. Plus we should have beat the crap out of them last year but we barely snaked out.

What is the opinion of the press on CSU's chances? Here the reporters are giving BYU a very good chance. One guy is saying 85-90%. They don't seem to mention CSU in the discussion.
It's going to be entertaining to see it play out. Locally I think of BYU gets in it pulls some of the big linemen that historically went to BYU back. This will hurt depth at Utah.

This might be better than Sparkles.
Seems like every local paper likes their local team's chances, and dismisses everyone else's.
Press has been pretty neutral this year on the game, leaning towards the buffs though. We have the more experienced roster, and they have had a lot of attrition to spots with little depth as it was.

That's part of why I ask. I follow CU, but haven't seen supportive articles of CSU. As a member of the press, I would be very excited to see CSU in a big money conference. More stories to write and tell. Here on Utah, college football leads discussion. My guess is this is white noise in Denver with the Bronco's in camp.
I think he was referring to CSU to Big 12.
Either way, I have heard very little to nothing from the local media surrounding any analysis or predictions on the game this year.... Of course, other than Allbright and his butt buddy Benny Bash, who believe CSU is head and shoulders the more prominent program in the state.
The press here has no idea what is going on. My personal estimation is about a 40% chance.
Apparently there may be some invites extended as soon as this week, if you buy the random Twitter chatter.
In a word, poor. UH is the #1 candidate IMO. Cincy and Memphis are probably 2(a) and 2 (b). Solid FB and MBB, decent followings, geographically compatible, draw pretty well in the stadiums. Relatively up to date facilities. After that BYU and UCF or maybe USF. BYU, as others have observed, would likely be a FB only member. That would be weird for the B12, but they have such a strong FB following, and recent success, they may pull it off. UCF and USF are in FB rich FL, but so they even have MBB or other revenue sports?
CSU is in a weird place. They have made the commitment to "go big", but I think they are too late to the party. The new stadium is going to be nice for them, but they are selling what they are going to do against more established peers who have a track record to sell. CSU's track record, attendance and support wise, stinks. If the B12 looks to the Mtn. time zone, BYU is simply more attractive to them FB wise. I am not convinced the B12 will try to span three time zones. If I am not mistaken, no P5 conference does that. The TV slots are just too complicated. And TV $$ drives the bus. I look for some combo of UH, Cincy, Memphis, USF and or UCF to get the 2 or 4 spots projected.
EDIT: I re-read your Q, this is just my .02. I haven't really read local media about it...are they even talking about it here? I haven't heard.

I'd give it about a 2% chance. So many things have to fall just right for them. They need for the B12 to expand to 16 teams, not 12 or 14. That's highly unlikely. Right now, they appear to be 5th or 6th in a two man race. Cincinnati, Boise, BYU, Houston and Memphis are all ahead of CSU, and it's not even close.
If only there were an established thread discussing CSU to the Big 12...
