Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns (NFL)

Yup - a wild thing to see. Their tune would be totally different if he was drafted in rounds 1-3

One of the things that I find frustrating reading the Browns message board is the general lack of understanding surrounding engagement, AI slop, and clickbait.

Shedeur (and the whole Sanders family) has a crazy engagement score. Love or hate, people click the articles. That’s engagement.

And most of the articles are AI generated, loosely based on any sort of fact, poorly written, and dubious conclusions. And then some people don’t understand that if you click one article, then the algorithm will give you more articles on Shedeur, all with very “clickbait-y” titles.

In this day and age, you’d think people would know this. But they don’t.
They don't represent the average fan. Message board fans tend to be the same demo as reddit and that's a select demo that never was really on board with Sanders.

Cleveland is going to give their 3rd pick every opportunity over their 5th round pick, because if SS proves to be better it would be a direct indictment on how crappy Cleveland’s scouting and draft personnel are at their job which ultimately leads back to the HC and GM. If you’re going to push him down to the scrubs, why even bother drafting him?
That was the whole blackballing concept once Shedeur dropped beyond the 2nd. Drafting Shedeur would be an indictment on every staff and front office’s ability to assess talent, essentially their entire job, IF he plays well. It would undermine their very existence.

Training camp is designed to generate success then build on it.

A less than 55% completion rate, especially when he has a lot of easy routes built in is not a viable NFL QB.

You can give Flacco some slack because he has proven in the past he can do it and he is likely working on some more difficult stuff. Those don't apply to Gabriel.

Meh. All 32 teams had multiple chances to draft him. Cleveland was the only team that did. I’m not sure how they would worry about their scouting looking worse than the rest.

If Shedeur does what I think he will a lot of GMs and HCs are going to be facing awkward questions from ownership..

If Cleveland releases him and he does it elsewhere while Gabriel is a backup at best that could end careers.

Everybody else passed on him as well will work about as well as telling the judge that other drivers were speeding too.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I have never watched much NFL outside of the Atlanta games that are on the primetime channels in CO. But I’m now completely invested in the NFL. I already have a buddy who I’m going to split Sunday ticket with. I watch training camp recap videos for a team I never gave a **** about 5 months ago. I’m planning trips to Vegas to see Cleveland play if Shedeur is starting. And a nice bonus to all of this is that having Sunday ticket means I can watch all of the Atlanta games as well as the Jaguars.

You must be a Dan Reeves refuge...

Turns out the above was a lie and they are giving all the 11v11 snaps to Gabriel :D

Some conversation between Cleveland media. Not even pumping Shedeur, just completely shredding Gabriel as an NFL prospect. This Daryl guy sounds like some Denver media covering Tebow.

There are Shedeur supporters like Rizzo, Kosar, G Bush, and some others in Cleveland media as well as Zugura who like him a ton. But Daryl isn't one of them. He doesn't dislike Shedeur but he isn't head over heels for him either but he definitely doesn't like Gabriel. Everyone here knows I liked Gabriel as a prospect but I never loved the personnel fit for Gabriel with Cleveland. He needs a stacked offense and Cleveland isn't that.

Browns signed Tyler Huntley. Definitely not good news.

Also wtf are they doing at QB?
Injuries. Pickett and Gabriel aren't likely to play and Flacco probably isn't getting more than a series. I dont know if they wanted Shedeur to play the entire game.
