Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns (NFL)

Let me say it again, the Cleveland coaching staff will do everything they can to make Sanders look bad under the guise of, "We're just trying to keep things simple and let the players play."
What will they do if/when he looks good?

I find it hard to believe they would pick him if they wanted him to fail from the beginning. I think you’re going off the deep end here
Unless Haslan ordered the pick.

And it wouldn't surpise me considering NFL head coach egos if Stefanski still thinks he was right with Gabriel and at the same time wants to do everything he can to undermine the owner telling him what to do. He doesn't want to lose his job but he also doesn't want an owner telling him what to do.

The Panthers have been adamant about that for a week or so now. ESPN had a story up

The Browns may sprinkle in some starters, but Shedeur will likely be playing with mostly the 2nd string.

Jaycee Horn won't play on Friday after getting in a fender bender this morning and has an injured thumb.

Gabriel will never make it in the nfl, why ade you all so kind? He blows, and in my opinion lacks character in all dimensions (easiest read is jumping ard teams looking for a fit and then strinking out lucky…not something you build a team ard). I’ll call it now, his career will end with max 8 starts in the nfl.

Incredibly embarrassing that whoever wrote this, and then whoever green lit the text plaque, missed “two seasons at CU he broke more than 100 school records and was also finished college as one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in history”. I emailed Rick immediately, this is annoying.

Other than that though, legacy wing looks amazing.

He is tremendously accomplished. 36-15 record. Freshman player of the year in the FCS. All American as a soph and Senior in just 4 seasons.

Yeah that’s embarrassing. Also a crazy run on sentence

Holy sh!t. You're telling me no one proofread this before, during and after it was produced? Good god.

Was briefly listening to Vic, Moser and another guy on Altitude this morning and Moser and the other guy were talking about Shedeur and the Browns situation and how ridiculous it's being managed. Vic finally chimes in and says he was playing golf and tennis this past weekend with a bunch of CU alums who are super pissed off about Shedeur's number retirement.

That was Vic's contribution to the conversation around Shedeur and the Browns. The amount of butthurt that man has sustained because of the decision to retire Shedeur's jersey is incredible.

It was probably one guy who was like “I think they should have waited” and Vic blew it out of proportion.

For sure. The fact that it's living with him rent free is crazy. Moser even said, "I think it was probably the wrong decision to retire Shedeur's (said it was right to do Travis'), but when Deion and Shedeur save a program that was on the verge of being relegated to the Mountain West, I think it could warrant different consideration" (paraphrasing). Vic immediately pushed back and said no it doesn't.

He's become such a turd.

"Become?" I know guys who knew him in his HS days. The word "douchebag" was used a lot.

Rick emailed me back this morning already and said he would get it to the team. I’m surprised he responded but even more surprised he responded so fast.

I think SS is going to do great tomorrow night. I'm maybe not as confident as Chad Ocho-Cinco, but Carolina was the worst D in the NFL last year:

"Watch what happens," Johnson said. "I guarantee he march their (expletive) right down the (expletive) field in that first drive. I guarantee you that's how it plays out, marching right down the field. If he don't play well, I'mma hold him accountable."

Panthers invested heavily in the defense in the off-season.

  • Free Agency:
    • They signed defensive tackles Tershawn Wharton (from the Chiefs) and Bobby Brown III (from the Rams).
    • Linebacker Pat Jones II (from the Vikings) was added.
    • Safety Tre'von Moehrig (from the Raiders) joined the team.
    • Cornerback Michael Jackson was re-signed.
    • Christian Rozeboom was added at linebacker.
  • Draft:
    • Although the Panthers used their first-round pick on wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, they drafted defensive ends Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen in the second and third rounds respectively.
  • Extensions:
    • The Panthers extended cornerback Jaycee Horn's contract.

I told a friend who is a life-long Brown’s fan that I signed up for Sling two weeks early just to watch Brown’s preseason games.

He said I would soon learn the pain and disappointment that comes with being a Brown’s fan.
