Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns (NFL)

The final roster cut down to 53 active players day is Tuesday 8/26, so plans will come into focus soon enough.

“Please remove any personal belongings from your locker and thanks for your effort. Oh, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass. Buh bye.”

As an appellate attorney, this struck a far different chord than intended:

Pretty sure Maximus’ civil rights were seriously violated.
OT: Appeals.
I had a sex assault sentencing issue that went to the CCA. A real loser, no hope. The DA was an academic and true gentleman. I was 100% certain my guy was getting screwed, and pulled out a dirty trick my dad had once mentioned.
As we started into the courtroom, I looked at the DA's clothes and said, "I'm surprised you didn't dress better". He got totally flustered and blew his argument.
I still feel that was underhanded, but under the circumstances okay to do.

Brilliant, well played.

Trial tactics work in appellate courts, too—clearly. That one doesn’t seem too bad.

I was messing with the color of my hair one day with a girlfriend (don’t ask why), and ended up turning it bright, bright orange by accident—the day before I had to argue in front of the Cal. Court of Appeals.

I kept hugging one side of the podium, trying to stay out of the overhead light—never so glad COAs are generally fairly dimly lit

Oddly, it became my first published opinion.

I was a very relaxed trial lawyer, but the C of A scared me. Facts not law were best for me.

SS didn't give the media much to chew on in this interview, but didn't exactly let DG off the hook either. Basically said that Dillon told him it wasn't directed at him, but when asked if Shedeur believed him, he didn't say yes, just that he can't control what other people say.

If/when Shedeur hits it big…kids everywhere are going to be taking a scissors to one arm on all their shirts.

Browns can't even collude properly. What a franchise
ED said that they were told not to draft him at all, until someone called the Browns and told them to do it. The NFL trying to stifle college super stars that already have a large brand is some bull**** and makes no sense. They should be leaning into those brands and putting them front and center like the NBA does.

Rich old white men wanting to humiliate and control mostly black young men? Shocking.

Old saying is that if three people know something it is no longer a secret.

NFLPA is essentially toothless, the least effective of all the players unions but if lawyers for Shedeur and a couple of other players with similar situations can get solid evidence of this, essentially communications from the league or authoritative acknowledgments of communications from the league the NFL doesn't have a great track record in court.

The players’ brands might be why they wanted to make an example of him. They want those brands at the combine, where the NFL controls the media rights.

From the outside, it looks like the Browns are doing everything to stifle his chances, I wonder if this is mandated by the shield as well? After the second round, a lot of us knew this was personal for whatever reason. It looks like it’s continuing, I wonder if he’ll ever get a fair shot?

Given Shedeur’s production on the field, the only reasonable scenarios for him falling to the 5th Round would’ve been a major injury, a late revealed skeleton, or collusion.

Injury has been pretty much debunked.
Being a poor interviewer is not a major skeleton.
So… here we are.
I wonder if the problem with his interviews is that the people interviewing him were intent on sabotaging him.
