Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread

So apparently analytics people think you should select multiple QBs in a draft if you need a QB.

Take as many as you need and see if one works out
Of all the strategies out there, it certainly is one of them. 🤷‍♂️ If Shedeur simply keeps his head down and just grinds this offseason/preseason, Pickett is 3rd string and Gabriel is cut.

This might not be as dumb a move by Cleveland as we think. They have the #5 pick next year and will likely have their own Top 5 pick because they're gonna suck a$$ again in 2025. Play through all these QBs next season then determine if you have "THE GUY". If not, dump 4 of them and draft a QB again.

Watson is done there. Flacco is the veteran in the room who probably starts the year. He has to beat out Pickett and Gabriel.
Shedeur is in the driver’s seat to beat Pickett and Gabriel. Organizationally it is stupid to waste the pick on Gabriel with so many major roster-wide needs. But, Shedeur is most poised to be the Clowns long term starter.

They could/probably should have Travis and Shedeur

I imagine they didn’t think Shedeur would make it this long

Watson is still there too and making 40 mil
Watson has addition accusations against him. Even if he wasn't facing his legal/personal conduct questions he wouldn't be a factor.

I posted before. He ruptured the Achilles for a second time and had another surgery on it. He would be back late in the season at the earliest and more likely won't even be physically able to play in the 2025 season. For a QB who relies on his legs this isn't good news, even coming back after missing a full season most athletes require another season to get back to as close to healthy as they will end up.

If Shedeur can use this year to position himself this could be a great situation for him.

Flacco will likely be the starter. If they think they can keep him there Gabriel may end up on the practice squad. If Shedeur shows early they keep Gabriel as the #3 and Pickett is gone.

Shedeur has shown he can survive behind a less than ideal OL so when Flacco does his inevitable fade he may start the last part of the season.

To your point having two high #1s next season and their own #2 will be close to a #1 they will be in position to make some significant additions to the OL.

They just have to not be Cleveland and screw it up like they have so often before.

Shedeur has to show well this year or hope the Browns have a really good year. Next year’s QB draft is stacked and the Browns have two 1’s next year to position themselves to move up

Best of luck to Shedeur in Cleveland! He has a lot of work to do, but we all know he's a grinder. I'm more concerned about CU's qb situation, but I'll keep an eye on SS2 going forward, and wish for long-term success for the guy.

Not sure if this was posted and not trying to be a jerk, but Shedeur might've made more money in college last year than he will in the NFL next year. Personally, I think he'll be a really solid NFL QB.

Another thought - Cleveland will likely consider trading one of these rookie QBs. Seems like they'd have a better outcome trading Gabriel, who is not nearly as talented as Sanders IMO.

Not going to be much market for Gabriel.

Somebody might give them a 7th but not likely. Teams don't even give up draft picks for veterans who have proven they can play.
