Still pisses me off every time I think about it...All I know is if MM singles out a position group as being the best its been since he's been here.........
I'll go ahead and expect disaster from that group.

But, is he on campus?Lang adding 35 pounds of muscle is a positive sign, hoping he can be an impact player this season.

We'll see.Any news on whether we get an actual Spring Game this year or another glorified practice session?
We have a thread about how much we hate the Denver media and then one about how much we wish we gave the Denver media more access to the program?
I dislike the bunker mentality as much as anybody, but I frankly don’t give a damn if the Post never gets access to practices, games, lockerrooms, coaches interviews, tailgates, the Mall Parade, etc.
We'll see.
(This is now my standard response to any question relating to the team this spring outside of official reports since the only media coverage we get these days are well-written press releases from Woelk.)
A very measured response.Brian Howell on MM and closed practices (from today's Buffchat):
"Certainly, it's disappointing, but at this point, it's not new. If I remember right, we got to see maybe 1 or 2 practices last spring. In the fall, there were 2 or 3 we got to see. I get the frustration fans - and we in the media (particularly Adam and I, who are there regularly) share the frustration. We would love to be able to see practice and report on how the team is doing. Report on the OL struggling, or certain players that seem to be struggling with things. I'm sure it gets old for the fans to hear nothing but positive coming out of CU. BUT, that's why MacIntyre does it. He doesn't want me or Adam or anybody else writing that the offensive line is struggling. He doesn't want us to see Player X has been out of pads for the past week or Player Y is wearing a boot on his left foot. None of that helps his team. Over at Coors, Tad Boyle opens practices, and there's an understanding between Tad and the media that certain things don't get reported. MacIntyre has never gained that type of trust with the football media - and I don't think he ever will. So, as much as we don't like it, it's not going to change. And, frankly, that's just the way it is in college football. A lot of teams close practices for those reasons. College football coaches are very paranoid."
Bigger, faster, stronger.I heard Montez will have his best year yet and is progressing nicely.
Not unless Moretti wants to make one.Is there any public statement on when Moretti will be able to practice?
I'd run my program like Pete Carroll. Not only did he win like crazy, he was able to generate a crazy amount of buzz around his program in a city that can quickly become indifferent. His style of coaching through positive reinforcement and making the work fun rather than ripping into players and coaches old school makes it a lot easier to be completely open, though. That's how I do things so it would work for me.My probably unpopular opinion on this is that, while I'd like to know a little more detail as a fan about the team during spring and late summer, if I was Mac2 I'd be doing it exactly as he is. You can be sure he has RG's blessing in how access is being handled.

I think I become even more interested in reading practice reports and visiting practice if the team goes 10-2.We only care about stuff like this when we are losing. Go 10-2 and you can hold practices on the moon.

Holy cr**, that is such a sad comment on the way MM runs this program. I strongly believe that if this is how it is and MM is OK with it, and RG let's him do what he wants to do, then his leash get's shorter and shorter. If he does not go to a Bowl Game this year and/or less than 7 games, then I strongly believe he is fired! There is no way RG can accomplish any of his goals with this type of operation. Opening practice and getting what little passionate fan base involved would do so much for the ability for many to give you a break when things seem not so right. At this point, you just better win Mac! The players are there if you play the right ones.
Marketing is not MM's job, it's to win games. This is the AD's problem, not MM's. Pretty much all coaches would love closed practices.Holy cr**, that is such a sad comment on the way MM runs this program. So the decision on media and fan policy with practices shouldn't be left up to the head coach?Marketing is not MM's job, it's to win games. This is the AD's problem, not MM's. Pretty much all coaches would love closed practices.
If you're winning year in, year out and running an extremely profitable program for the AD and fan/media exposure isn't an issue, then the HC can pretty much do whatever he wants. When you're Mike MacIntyre at CU, there needs to be a little give and take, IMO, and these are the sorts of things that Rick George should have a little more authority on.So the decision on media and fan policy with practices shouldn't be left up to the head coach?
