Tad has to go

If we can sweep this homestand against the Arizona schools then I think we can talk about having made it back to the Bubble. Not "in", but back to where it's a reasonable conversation at 16-9 (7-6).

Honestly, with the perception of the P12 nationwide, only way we dance is if we get the auto bid. I've heard more buzz about the SoCon getting 2 teams than I have about the P12. It's Vegas or bust - and then Washington MAY get an at large bid.

It’s 2011-2012 all over again.

I think the only way the conference gets 2 bids is Washington losing in the conference championship game. Assuming they run away with it and finish at something like 16-2. I guess they could probably survive an earlier exit in the conference tourney?

I'm very supportive of UW gettin an at-large bid by only dropping 2 more games -- to CU in Seattle and to CU in the P12C final.

Boyle has also faced some strong adversity within his roster.

Bryce Peters, Lazar Nikolic, Miller-Stewart, Deleon Brown all left the team (or became Academically ineligible).

Walton and Namon Wright out for season with injuries.

It's freaking amazing to see this current team rally. Win or lose these last couple weeks are quite an encouraging testament of these young men.

Maybe somebody (not me obviously) with a minimum level of meme skills could take that Team America meme "America **** yeah!" and change America to Colorado and put Tads face into it. And show Andy crying cause he knows this was just round one.

I would try, but it wouldn't happen in my lifetime......maybe even god's lifetime.......

Right idea, but add a gif next time.

finally, something in this thread that doesn't suck!!!!!!

A lot of players have left during Tad's tenure add in Akyazili, Hopkins, Thomas, and Fletcher. Some of that is to be expected, but it feels like a really high number of players to leave.

I'd consider myself a more casual CU MBB fan than some here, but my gut feel is that Tad frequently has issues with slow starts in conference play and that the team usually is stronger towards the end of the season. This year seems to be that trend writ large.

Am I wrong on this?

If not, what are the theories on what causes this?

Well, factor into your perception the fact that for at least the last 2 seasons the schedule has been “road heavy” to begin them.

You are correct. As DBT says, some of that is schedule, but it is definitely an issue.

That’s showbiz (college hoops) baby

KenPom currently projects us to finish 10-8 in conference - tied for 2nd with 4 other teams.
I can't remember myself ever being so much in "one game at a time" mode during the regular season of hoops. I think it's a mix of me not fully trusting this team yet and the margin for error the rest of the way being so slim if they are going to make a bubble case for the Dance.

That said, looking at KenPom this morning, this may be the most loved team we've had by the metrics. Home court advantage is like 4th in the nation. Every key team stat is very favorable other than steal rates (O & D), but CU never does well in those categories by design. The albatross for this team -- and the only reason we're not sitting at 19-5 instead of 15-9 -- is that we're not a good or consistent 3 pt shooting team. Hopefully Siewert re-found his stroke a bit last night by hitting a couple and that we see Gatling and Schwartz go on a good streak. We're getting great looks. If we start hitting them, these close wins will turn into walkovers because we're pretty much winning every other category (i.e., if you can win the glass against ASU you can dominate rebounding against every other Pac-12 team).
