Recruiting has been better this year after some solid coaching changes but still not where they should be where they are competing for the best class in the country average star wise with Alabama and Ohio state.

last year they were 18th or something but that is actually lower than it really was since they added two 5 stars who transferred after their first semester in the spring.

The biggest thing is they could easily create an offense like Ohio state if they recruited dual threat guys. They have the lineman, running backs and receivers to be able to put up the same numbers but instead they decided to go full air raid because leach beat them a couple of times.

Just seems like a huge waste of talent up front and puts more plays/stress on your defense which can never be a good thing. You can still have an efficient, explosive passing game without the air raid unless you go full stanford. I also do believe it makes your defense a little soft from practicing against it full time.

First year coaching grades from forde. Man, I’m am shocked norvell is having this bad of a year down there in Tallahassee but god I love seeing it.

Not that shocked about Norvell. FSU is a complete mess. The culture is completely toxic.

I just didn’t think the ACC was very good this year but I guess they did lose to miami and notre dame while beating North Carolina. The last month though, ouch.

Not saying Norvell is destined to fail there, but it is a true rebuilding project. Talent issues galore and a team that flat out quit in several games over the previous few seasons.

aTm boosters have always had this strange combination believing that the Aggie program is somehow one of the nations storied elites and at the same time a combination of envy/inferiority to the Longhorns.

Even when they are better than the Longhorns they still have this strange complex relationship where they feel like they somehow have to do more to match up.

It would in no way surprise me that some very wealthy aTm boosters would pony up to try to hire who they see as the missing piece for them to somehow reach that position of being the most respected football program in Texas.

The real entertainment will start as they continue to fail because of losses to those other SEC programs who are better than they are at win at all cost.

Duh,

Shows where my head is right now.

I would say though that a lot of what I said holds true for TTU as well. Difference between them and aTm is that Tech has some wealthy boosters but isn't in the same league as UT or aTm in terms of overall money or status.

I think Saban would do well at aTm.

You are talking about Texas, yes to the money people down there it absolutely is.

TTU to my knowledge hasn't covered up murder and a rape culture like Baylor but I guarantee you that if it won them a NC they have some money boosters who would be fine with it.

Saban would do well anywhere as long as the boosters were writing the checks and the school was willing to let Saban set the standards.

aTm would probably be more than happy to do both for him but at this point in his career I think Saban is on his last stop in his coaching path. Bama gives him everything he wants, he has his program built, recruits fall all over themselves to go there, and he continues to win.
 
Matt Wells is in his second year at Texas Tech and has a six year deal. Firing him after year two would be pretty cold given his record isn’t that awful, and the buyout would be expensive. But, if you’re seriously consider hiring Art Briles, then I guess P.R. isn’t really a concern.

It's all relative. Talent down at FSU means you should go 8-4/9-3 for 2 or 3 seasons before you're ready to challenge for a conference title again.

Might have been true a decade ago, but not really the case anymore. They are just not even close to loaded like they used to be, and QB/OL recruiting has been an abject disaster.

They lost to GT, one of the worst teams in the conference and weren't really competitive in any other conference games aside from the UNC game, and that win isn't looking so hot right now.
