The 2020 COVID Coaching Carousel

They are not paying Harbaugh all that money to simply be competitive with tOSU and be completely and totally irrelevant otherwise....
I wouldn’t consider 34-16 in conference irrelevant, but regardless his extension is reported to be 5 years at $20M which is cheap by BIG standards.

A. Not sure why Harbaugh is agreeing to halve his salary.
B. 34-16 at Michigan is an awful record. You are right, it's worse than irrelevant. Does not meet any fan's expectations. Their expectations are much higher than that, and not at all singularly focused on tOSU. They expect to be competing for championships (i.e. relevant).

If meeting fan expectations is the measure, then there are about 4 relevant programs in college football.

With guys like Day, Mullen, Campbell, Harbaugh, and Riley all rumored to possibly move to NFL over the next few years, I wonder if CFB jobs are becoming less attractive with basically zero parity anymore.
That, and a lot of these guys are major hypocrites and don't like the advancement of player equitable treatment e.g. NIL and One-Time Transfer.

They are hypocrites, but I actually understand why they don’t like it. It’d be like an NFL team putting all the time, effort and resources into player evaluation for the draft, only for their picks to have the ability to leave for another team at any time.

This.

Coaches have been pretty open that they were used to recruiting one class per year. Now they have to recruit their entire team each year. It makes roster management beyond frustrating.
