The 2021-2022 Coaching Carousel

Assholeskin is the same guy who thinks his takes on Mel Tucker all season are now justified because of the Ohio State game. Nothing to say of the 9-2 record and #12 ranking in year two. If a coach isn’t winning a Natty in year 2 or 3, he’s not a good coach
Michigan State's a 7 win team that played a joke of an OOC schedule (Miami sucks) and got a favorable cross division draw (beat the two worst teams in the B1G West and then lost to Purdue by 11). Your point?

They don't need to be on the same level as those three. Why? They've got a lot more resources than pretty much everyone in this league. As far as Stanford.......they're likely heading for 3-9. They're awful. The officiating is an excuse......especially when both Washington State and Oregon State (who don't have Oregon's talent) beat Stanford.

I could think of guys I'd rather have going against somebody like Smart-Ryan Day, James Franklin, and Lincoln Riley (all of whom have higher ranked recruiting classes than your boy Mario does) all come to mind here.
Mario's not elite, but he's also far from being a Pac-12 coach problem. Importantly, he's fixed a slide at Oregon that had been going on since Kelly left. The talent's back to a level where they can compete with anyone and they're a legit Top 15 program in the nation.

He is 50-42 as a HC cumulatively at UW, USC and UT. The only mystery to me is why Sark is given so many chances without ever being more than moderately successful at three premium programs.

No bang for the buck. None.

Because they aren’t as good as those programs and have a recruiting disadvantage in terms of local talent. The stanford game is not an excuse, they got completely ****ed and everyone around the country knew it. Oregon state lost other games, same with wazzou so picking one opponent as your baseline doesn’t make sense.

I mentioned Franklin as a good candidate but day and Riley aren’t leaving their current jobs for Florida. I still think cristobal and Franklin are the best recruiters out of those four though.

Miami is 6-5 with two top 25 wins. They’re not world beaters, but they’re far from being awful and MSU beat them in Miami. Alabama’s OOC schedule was Miami, Mercer, Southern Miss and New Mexico State - that’s worse and they play 4 OOC games. Michigan State is currently a 9 win team no matter how much you dislike Tucker.

“Georgia’s a 9 win team that hasn’t played anybody”

SEC East is weak. I think it's easy to overlook how teams were playing when someone faced them. Georgia's given some beatdowns that humbled teams that were rolling as they headed into the game with them.

The Ryan Day that Cristobal beat on the field this year in Columbus? You seem to be forgetting that.

Two things can be true at the same time.

Oklahoma has been suspect all year and I wonder if this is the turning point where we find if Lincoln Riley is really a great CFB coach. Too early for me to tell for sure, but I am suspicious. Franklin hasn't seemed to do anything special for Penn State either. Solid, but not anything great.

If I'm Mike Bohn, I'm reaching for more star power than Franklin.

And? He's on his way to a third straight conference title and another Rose Bowl. But yeah, he hasn't gone undefeated every year, so he's a dog **** coach.
On his way? That means he's gotta beat the same Utah team who just kicked his ass over the weekend next week.........you hand me $100 and tell me I have to bet it I'm taking Utah.

He's a good recruiter, but let's not kid ourselves-the best coach in this league is Kyle Whittingham.......and there's nobody close.

Yeah, on a neutral field instead of SLC. Oregon wins that game. Really tough to beat a team twice in one season. And he has the top class in the conference 4 years running. Also has the best staff in the conference.

Sure Wittingham is a good coach. But how many conference championships does he have? Big bowl wins? They're hyped up every year but always play like **** in 2-3 games a year. You can't criticize Cristobal for doing that without doing the same for KW. **** they lost to SDSU this year and an OSU team that lost to, checks notes...COLORADO?!?

Solid is still an upgrade over what they've had since Carroll left.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha what on earth did you see Saturday night that makes you think that? That game was over at half.

Guess I'm not the only high one on here tonight.

Not to single you out @Buffs35, but responding in general to the idea. While the sentiment of consistently winning 60-70% of games played is fine. But the religious harkening back to McCartney or Barnett era and using the relative successes in those timelines as the guide for present operation is an organizational failure.

Since Mac left the dialogue from the AD has never changed. They send out the same recycled cover their ass, act blameless, woah is us, if you are not with us you are against us story. I had thought with hiring Tucker RG had the gumption and the plan to buck this trend. Show change via action and setting achievable goals but nope, he folded like napkin.
I don't mind being singled out. I am a 35 year old like the rest of us.

Barnett overcame CU's chitty administration. I just wish I lived in an alternate universe where Barnett wasn't so disgusted by Betsy's fake scandal that he went into a shell and stopped recuiting. Dude could coach players up, he is proof success can happen despite CU.

I mean, Cristobal lost to Utah his first season but beat Utah in the Pac 12 Championship Game and then beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl in year two. They didn’t play last year and this year they will play twice. Wittingham has yet to win the Pac 12.

God dammit, your ****ty takes actually have me trying to find fault with KW, when he’s an excellent coach, but Cristobal os a damn good coach as well.
