I like golf. Because if there were no golf, more people would consider doing the stuff I’m interested in doing.
Quite frankly, we're glad you don't play golf too, Spalding...

Just how much does a round of golf intrude into masturbation time?
There’s only room for five or six guys at a time over your mom’s sweet tits.
Have to respect the skill of the top players, it does take talent and a lot of hard work to be elite. It is also though something that can be done (not as well) by my dentist and my banker. Certainly not an athletic sport if they can do it.
Any idiot can go play pickup basketball, or rec league for football, hockey, baseball (softball too), volleyball, beer-in-hand kickball, and many other sports. So this argument is stupid.
Not water polo. Edit: Or regular polo.Any idiot can go play pickup basketball, or rec league for football, hockey, baseball (softball too), volleyball, beer-in-hand kickball, and many other sports. So this argument is stupid.
No, those games don't resemble the high level. And my dentist couldn't last 5 minutes at those games, he plays full rounds of golf.
You are dumb argument again. Your dentist on the golf course doesn't resemble the high level of golf either. You even said so in your earlier post: "It is also though something that can be done (not as well) by my dentist."No, those games don't resemble the high level. And my dentist couldn't last 5 minutes at those games, he plays full rounds of golf.
I'd like to see a horse play water polo. Not water polo. Edit: Or regular polo.
Willing to bet that Mtn can't break 100!
Golf takes no athleticism. Mtn isn’t athletic enough to golf. Mtn is less athletic than a mountain. Reminds me of the game, “Would that play have ended up better if a giant boulder was there in place of Shane Harris-Tunks?”Can't play poker either. That Doesn't mean those who can are athletes.
Actually, no. There are people who literally cannot run or jump any more who can't do those things but can still beat their grandkids in a round of golf (or out fish them or beat them at darts or billiards). Golf's also nice - and different - because with the handicapping system people of very different skill levels can still play competitively.Any idiot can go play pickup basketball, or rec league for football, hockey, baseball (softball too), volleyball, beer-in-hand kickball, and many other sports. To put it another way, my dad can still play golf after needing hip replacement. He can't safely or comfortably go on a moderate difficulty height and he certainly can't play a pickup basketball game. But he can still play golf and beat my ass at it, which is nice for him since it lets him think he's still an athlete.
So a golf course is ugly but you’re fine with a beautiful mountain being gouged out for ski slopes? You hypocrite!! Originally golf courses were located on land unsuitable for, pretty much, anything else. Today, if the land weren’t a golf course, it’d be divided up for tract homes or strip malls. I’d say a well designed and maintained golf course is a lot more beautiful than those things.I'm happy if folks like golf. That's a choice, and I support choice.
I dislike it because I find golf courses ugly and a waste of resources. They are anti-nature and I enjoy nature. If I lived in a flyover state, I could get into it, maybe. However, with the Rocky Mountain playground in my backyard, I'll be on my mountain bike, skis, or drifting a fly down a backcountry stream. But I guess if your life sucks, golf makes sense (no judgment).
I think we can all agree, though, that weanie sports like golf and soccer can **** up pretty much any thread.
Hey Vol, get your plaid knicker-wearing ass in the politics thread. Darth wants to go all satyr to goat on you.
Oh, also, what section did you end up on?
there it isMake them real parks and they'd be better and get more use
Make them real parks and they'd be better and get more use
Good luck pigeonholing the "golf is stupid, and golf land should be sweet multi-use parks" into the left/right continuum, Roly-poly.there it is

I really hate who you have become. I want my uncle ken backFair points.
Though if you're trying to have a real discussion I'm not sure how barking "You hypocrite!" Helps the dialogue.
1. I would love to see more designated skin/ski terrain that eliminates impact to the terrain. Vail has done a 180 in its impact, and I think all resorts could do better.
2. Golf courses are generally blights that consume disproportionate water, and distribute considerable broadleaf killers and other pesticides into our watersheds. I agree that on the surface they are more attractive than Broomfield, and I'd invite you to stretch your imagination to other possibilities.
3. If I really loved golf, I'd probably go full hypocrite and ignore these things. I played for a few years because it was expected, I wasn't great, and thought it was really boring.
Golf continues to destroy this thread and I am fully complicit.
