Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

@RK Y'all should have had this BJ Rains guy on to debate Heisman - I guess he is local in Denver but runs this Boise show

Travis is getting interviewed pre-Heisman and there was a question about Rashaan and he said he did not know that much about him, and that all I know is that he has a trophy. Love you Travis, but that is not good enough for me. Can someone please educate him as much as possible, and I really hope that Chris Fowler is part of the ceremony and can weave a good tale about Rashaan and his challenges

Salaam won the heisman a decade before Travis was born. Expecting current players to be like us 35 year old fans with decades of memories is silly

I get the age thing, but you are joining a group of ultra-exclusive people and there is a person that played on the same field as you, and has a special locker, and has a trophy and a sign in the hall, and you are not familiar with anything about how he played 8-man football, ran for over 2,000 yards, got drafted and played for the Bears, and then tragically. committed suicide not that long ago. Teaching him about him, so he can make nice comments about it would be fantastic.

"Hi Rashaan, congratulations on the Heisman! Tell me about Byron Whizzer White, if you would!"

We don't have to be triggered by everything
Triggered, really, the most decorated Colorado Football Player that won a Heisman, and you know nothing about his story.
Oh well, who cares, come get your paycheck, make plays, and move on. We are all better than that and even in todays new age of CFB, we can learn about or love our program that is paying you. I love Travis as much as anyone here, but grew up with the 1990 and 1994 teams.

Dude - i have banned news and generic social media from my life. I have to get overly invested and overly emotional about something. Something must fill the void. This Heisman race is it for me. IT IS ALL I HAVE
The triggered post had to do with Travis not knowing every little detail about Rashaan

The sad thing about this whole mess is that Jeanty is an outstanding player. He's a guy that in some years would probably deserve the trophy, not most years but some years.

It is almost embarassing for him the length that some of these people are going trying (and failing) to put 12 down to justify giving the trophy to Jeanty. It makes them look ridiculous and in the process diminishes what Jeanty has accomplished.

Why do you always have to find something to obsess about? You get stuff in your head and we have to read about it for weeks.
I am an advocate, and Rashaan's story is both amazing and brutally sad, and this is a moment in time where the program can shed light on a young man that was troubled and overcame, and then sadly could not overcome it all. You are welcome for the obsession and all the posts. 5 second attention spans are great.

EDIT: Let me give you one moment in time that popped into my head... Rozier and Rogers from Nebraska got to hug and give Eric Crouch his Heisman, and sadly Rashaan is not here with us to do that for Travis. I am way too sympathetic of a person, and I apologize for that, move on to the next story

Nah. He was great against terrible competition. Army QB was better than Jeanty.

We all love Rashaan and appreciate what he did but we can also recognize that this would be Travis Hunter’s moment.

I wasn't trying to be a dick but sometimes you get carried with these narratives that play in your head, imo.

I do, and it is my weakness

The first person that Rashaan Salaam hugs when he wins the Heisman was Warren Sapp, wow what a small world

If Jeanty played in the Big12 this year, he has 1500 yards, is 3rd or 4th in rushing, and no one knows who TF he is.

END OF FVCKING STORY.

This is confusing because the chart says he got 20 first place votes but the article says "Hunter was named the No. 1 choice on 28 of those 29 ballots obtained by CBS Sports. He was among the top two choices on 27 of 29. His 76 total points were 87% of the points available."

They don't match up at all...
My guess is the article is a typo and should 20 of 29

Hunter - 20
Jeanty - 8
Gabriel - 1

I don't really get how they all add up if Hunter was also #2 in another 7 ballots. Seems like the score between him and Jeanty should be higher, but no clue how they weight it all
