Heck ya.. don't think he was on the table knowing this was indeed going to happen. This makes me feel better about our coaching search.
Really? If OSU if offerring him HC there is likely not a program in the country that could have pulled him away. Not just of the job openings this year, but litterally any program. Now Ryan day will become a legend and if Tucker doesn’t work out we’re going to forever look back at this coaching search.
Honest question. Do you think that Day was ever in play? He is closely tied to a program that just announced him as the interim yet again. I’m pretty sure that was baked into the cake a long time ago and he was in the know as to what was going to transpire. Now Ryan day will become a legend and if Tucker doesn’t work out we’re going to forever look back at this coaching search.
There's no chance he was ever in play with this news. Meyer has been taking about headaches publicly for weeks now.Honest question. Do you think that Day was ever in play? Umm, he was most definitely in play. There's no chance he was ever in play with this news. Meyer has been taking about headaches publicly for weeks now.
Exactly. We likely forced their hand early.Umm, he was most definitely in play.
I don't buy it. Unless you know some inside info.Umm, he was most definitely in play.
RG kept this close to the vest, then all of the sudden a bunch of reports come out about him being the next head coach mid last week and then the next day reports come out about OSU retaining Day and him taking over as head coach in 2019 at the latest. It is obvious what happened.I don't buy it. Unless you know some inside info.
All that to me means he was never a real candidate. Day May not have known HC was a viable option for him, but the OSUAD sure did.RG kept this close to the vest, then all of the sudden a bunch of reports come out about him being the next head coach mid last week and then the next day reports come out about OSU retaining Day and him taking over as head coach in 2019 at the latest. This was decided soon after they made him interim and Urb became symptomatic. CU, nor anybody else, forced their hand. Smith snd Urb orchestrated this long ago.I don't buy it. Unless you know some inside info.
If someone agrees to become your head coach they are definitely a real candidate. It just didn't work out in the end and we had to move on. Nothing wrong with that. All that to me means he was never a real candidate. Day May not have known HC was a viable option for him, but the OSUAD sure did.
I hear SoCal is so good for your health. Will be awesome when Urban joins USC within the next three years.

If that was the case, he never would have been considered a candidate here, nor would he have been included in any rumors about meeting w RG and agreeing to terms. This was decided soon after they made him interim and Urb became symptomatic. CU, nor anybody else, forced their hand. Smith snd Urb orchestrated this long ago.
I think he was on the table. And used this to get a commitment from tOSU. If Meyer didn’t retire (maybe a year earlier than he planned) I think Day would be CU’s Coach. But still happy with Mel Tucker. I think there were about five choices that were all great choices; a few had more question marks.Heck ya.. don't think he was on the table knowing this was indeed going to happen.
Oneil talks with such absolute certainty that I assume he is RG.A ton of weird posts in this thread.

So you think he was offered the CU job and he said 'yes' only to back out later? I didn't piece it together that way.If someone agrees to become your head coach they are definitely a real candidate. It just didn't work out in the end and we had to move on. Nothing wrong with that.
