Bieniemy says focus on Chiefs, not USC opening
Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said Thursday that if he were to be contacted by USC, he would tell the school he's focused on his current NFL job.
Stil, he would likely have been superior to Embree (the fire hydrant on the corner would have been superior to Embree).McElwain wouldn't have lasted long at CU one way or another.
Except that GAWD-AWFUL Blue turf!Like him or not, Klatt is really good at his job. Best quote, "Everything works at Boise." Amen.
This thread’s already 14 pages and I’ve read it all but I can’t recall if this was brought up. It probably was.
But if Bohn was ready to pull the trigger after one bad loss (which has happened without fail every year Helton has been there save one), why not just fire him during the off season and give this team a chance to do something. They are very talent heavy as always but this year could have been special. That alone is a bad play by Bohn.
Bieniemy has interviewed for multiple NFL HC jobs the last few years and interviewed for CU. He thinks he is readyI don't believe Bieniemy is ready to be a head coach and think he knows that. He is comfortable where he is, making a good living and has a QB making him look really good.
Probably because Bohn knows that they need to get rid of him, but if the team has a decent season, there will be arguments that he should stay, so cut him now to avoid that argumentThis thread’s already 14 pages and I’ve read it all but I can’t recall if this was brought up. It probably was.

Unless he didn’t make this call to fire him as some have suggested though I don’t think that’s the case
this is basically how Clay has survived this long.Probably because Bohn knows that they need to get rid of him, but if the team has a decent season, there will be arguments that he should stay, so cut him now to avoid that argument
Why fire Helton and then hire Del Rio?

I still remained convinced that in the past few weeks some donors closed their wallets for some non football related projects and let it be known that they would continue to evaluate those projects for the same amount of time that Bohn spent evaluating Helton.Because Bohn doesn’t make those decisions, he is told what to do by Carol Folt the school president. She is an outsider brought in to clean up the latest scandels and she is late to the party in understanding the importance of football at USC.

i strongly suspect that you will be wrong. it won't be someone with usc connections. it will be a huge name getting top dollar. imho. Two reasons-Their AD. Bohn's track record tells me he's not the kind of guy to take a huge swing at somebody like James Franklin. Second, that school's hiring pattern. Their last three coaching hires all had USC connections-Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, and Clay Helton.
Would it shock me if they got a Franklin? No. Am I expecting that kind of hire from USC given Mike Bohn and their history? No.
I just can't wait for half a dozen coaches to get raises by leveraging the U$C opening.i strongly suspect that you will be wrong. it won't be someone with usc connections. it will be a huge name getting top dollar. imho.
No. That’s CUs job.I just can't wait for half a dozen coaches to get raises by leveraging the U$C opening.
We all talk about USC needing to be good for the sake of the conference. But what if this is their “CU 2005/Nebraska 2001?” I say ****’em.Because Bohn doesn’t make those decisions, he is told what to do by Carol Folt the school president. She is an outsider brought in to clean up the latest scandels and she is late to the party in understanding the importance of football at USC.
This ^^ is what I suspect Franklin is doing. If I were him, I wouldn’t leave Penn State for this **** show.I just can't wait for half a dozen coaches to get raises by leveraging the U$C opening.
Penn State is a good job but he’ll never win the B1G there, let alone the Natty. This ^^ is what I suspect Franklin is doing. If I were him, I wouldn’t leave Penn State for this **** show.
I could be way off here; I agree that it will be a big name. But I don’t think it’s going to be someone who is currently successful in their present position. This is a re-build of sorts, so I just don’t see a current Top-10ish Blue Blood type of coach leaving their job for this. If USC was successful and the coach was stepping down (a la Pete Carol), then yes, everyone and their mother scrambling for USC. I don’t see that as the case now.i strongly suspect that you will be wrong. it won't be someone with usc connections. it will be a huge name getting top dollar. imho.
I don’t disagree (well maybe a little, this particular year could set up nice for him), but he’s got caché right now and could go somewhere he doesn’t have to “re-build”…both on-field success and brand image. But like I said….Penn State is a good job but he’ll never win the B1G there, let alone the Natty.
USC isn’t some total rebuild though. The right coach will be competing for the Pac 12 Championship next yearI don’t disagree (well maybe a little, this particular year could set up nice for him), but he’s got caché right now and could go somewhere he doesn’t have to “re-build”…both on-field success and brand image. With what QB??? You think Slovis is gonna stick around for this Circus?USC isn’t some total rebuild though. The right coach will be competing for the Pac 12 Championship next year
Yeah, we are talking about a team that finished 7th, 20th (two 5 star transfers that came in by the end of their first semester after enrolling early at Florida and Texas too) and 4th within the last 4 years. That was a bad class in 2020 but still, there is a lot of talent there to work with and any buzz what so ever with the coaching hire will pull in a too 5 class.USC isn’t some total rebuild though. The right coach will be competing for the Pac 12 Championship next year

Has he learned nothing from watching his U$C predecessors bomb in the League (at least monetarily) from hanging around a year too long???
You'd think Matt Barkely could take time off his job at the Car Wash, to talk with him???
I find this interesting. I feel as though our narrative on Allbuffs has been that Cristobal's strength as a recruiter, but not necessarily as coach (though that was a hell of a game on Saturday). I don't sense that USC needs a recruiter so much as a coach.
Someone's getting a raise.
In my semi-educated opinion on USC football, that program will recruit itself to a certain point, but in order to consistently recruit at the level it takes to compete with the top 3-4 programs in the country, they need be better, particularly on the OL/DL, which is what Cristobal is known for and has done at Oregon to get them to where they are this year.I find this interesting.
