USC's coach Helton is a douche

According to USC writers, there's a CU player named Lauska Chenault that they need to pay attention to.

I don't know if I've ever seen a program that lives inside its own bubble the way USC does.
The 247 writer who came over to buffstampede to defend himself was something special.

They do make him hard to find. He lines up everywhere. Defenses can’t plan for where he’s going to be from play to play. The quote is giving props to both Viska and Chev.
Maybe that's what the writer was trying to do - ChevNault

USC does not appear to have college football fans, it has USC fans. Doesn't seem to be much knowledgeable discussion on their boards regarding players or teams unrelated to USC.

His replies were actually pretty reasonable.

I thought people were a little quick to pile on there, I didn't find his article all that egregious A lot of folks are really gulping the kool aide, I was actually a little more optimistic about this year than a lot of folks, but I'm still in the mode of wanting to see what.we get these next two weeks.

I thought brushing aside all the issues USC has faced by stating they have recruited well was flippant and facile.

I didn't find anything too egregious, either. However, I do feel like it's a bit condescending to say if SC loses, they just didn't bring their A game. It's the same mentality Frost used after the CU game; we lost the game, the other team didn't win it. Also, while CU probably wouldn't be 5-0 had they played USC's schedule, I think CU could just as easily be 3-2 or 4-1.

I thought the initial article was dismissive, but then people were ripping him for replying and calling CU "overachievers" this year. Really?:ROFLMAO:

Well, to be fair, it should only be considered overachieving because they are 5-0 when Vegas and people outside the program thought they'd only win 4-5 games total. That's where the disconnect is... Die hard CU fans aren't all that surprised they are 5-0 right now; are you? Now, if they beat SC and UW on the road, I think there's merit to the overachieving idea, solely due to the talent differences between us and those two programs.

I am surprised at how the 5-0 record has transpired, but I think CU fans actively search for "disrespect" at times.

Darth said it better than me in another conversation: that entire thread portrays both fanbases really well.

I've been lurking on USC Football fansite blogs and message boards this week, and the writers and posters have been remarkably measured and realistic. No real trash talking about the Buffs. For example, www.wearesc.com .

Haven’t read your link, but my impression of their 247 site is that SC fans are almost hoping CU wins so there can be more reason to fire Helton.

This is the way I see it as well. Which is why I don’t think the stadium will be that full tomorrow night. I imagine most USC fans stil think of CU as **** and won’t be bothered to spend a beautiful autumn Saturday night “waiting their time” watch this “meaningless” game.

Funny thing is - I’m surprised by “5-0”. But when I look at each game individually, I’m not surprised we went 1-0 each week against those particular opponents.

That’s what I got...in addition to them not thinking they can win a game, Buffs not withstanding.

a lot of our opponents were a lot suckier than we thought they would be.

I’m not sure Nebraska was actually horrible when we played them, just that the result f’d their season. And I don’t think ASU was all that bad. CSU - yes. UCLA - yes.

It's "Family Day" at USC and the huge stadium will be 20% empty but will still have nearly 70,000 there. It will be loud if USC gets off to a good start. It is a rare evening home game so them USC fans will have plenty of time to get their drank on pregame. Buffs are +7, which I find to be a bit baffling. I see two fairly evenly matched teams in which the home team should be -3, just because of home. I am a generally pessimistic person when it comes to my favorite sports teams, but I really do see the Buffs winning this one.

a few observation based on my own experience there.

it won't be loud by normal football standards. the crowd will be less than 70k and the stadium is super flat. so the acoustics don't make it loud. even when it is "full" capacity, unless the crowd is full-on engaged, it is quieter than any b12 stadium. next, the late game is actually a deterrent. their tix have gotten quite pricey, which skews their season ticket holders older. and, their idea of a good game is an afternoon game with a nice dinner afterwards.
