Wake Forest Announcer Leaked Game Prep to Opponents

Wow ... that's pretty weird. A niece of mine married (now divorced from) the son of an assistant AD/coach at Wake who is retiring just this year. He's pretty much dedicated his entire adult professional life to Wake and must be terribly shaken by this. Should make for some interesting holiday conversation (the ex-hubby and his parents, children, etc., are of course still part of the family).

Could this guy have been so upset by the fact that he wasn't retained under the new coaching regime? That's really ****ed up if that's the case.

Why would the announcer have that info to begin with?

I can't imagine we give Mark Johnson or Coach Barnett the game plan prior to gameday, do we?

Lol, no, but they are around practice all week and meet with the coaches and players throughout in order to be prepped to talk about things for the game. I imagine it's similar to how the TV broadcasting crews do it in order to speak intelligently about the two teams.

I would imagine they get inside info, maybe no the entire gameplan, but I would bet they get some tidbits to use in the broadcast.

I think that what he did shows what kind of person he is and gives us some insight into why he wasn't on a coaching staff.

I think it was more of a case that the announcer was hanging around during game prep and team meetings and was privy to general game planning.

Radio and TV guys do get some "inside information," even in the NFL. Every so often you'll here an announcer say something like, "here's the play they told us about," "or, we saw that in practice this week" - right after the play with the new wrinkle/twist has been run. Or they might say something like "the XX coaches told us about some new schemes they're going to use against YY this week," but they won't tell you what the new schemes are until they're actually run.

The key, and the reason they get this information, is because they absolutely do not share it with anyone until after the play(s) has been run.

Expect this guy to get crucified by the tv/radio announcing corps in the next few days - all of them know that their future access depends on them being able to keep their mouths shut until it actually happens in a game.

Is this any different than some of our more negative posters on here hoping we sucked this year so we could get rid of HCMM?

Which apparently hasn't been very effective for Brady Quinn regarding the Buffs ... amirite?

I actually know this guy. He was a qb at my high school when I was at CU. When I was coaching I'd see him at coaches clinics when he was RB or TE coach for Wake. Really bizzare.
