That Gonzalez quote in Brian's article was great to see.
I would trade out 1 CB for a big RB. Otherwise I’m same as your list. We need speed at all LB spots, SS and FS in the worst way. Seems like we r def gonna need a LT and LG for sure too.Speaking of… What are the biggest transfer portal needs at this point and how many?
I feel like…
2-3 OL
2-3 DE/DT
2-3 OLB/Edge
2-3 DBs (S/CB)
Potentially a QB, depending on who the assumed new OC is and potentially a WR.
In all, 10-12 transfers who the staff believes can start in 2022 are needed.
Keith Miller is out

What was the quote
Gonzalez projects to be one of the Buffs’ top players in 2022 but was non-committal when asked if he would return to CU next season.
“I’m just focused on this week,” he said.
I won’t be surprised by any who declare. Only by those who don’t.Expect surprises.
Expect surprises.
It depends, of course, on the individual and you have to consider whether the reps they’re getting here are really quality reps. Were B Lewis’s reps really good for him? It’s debatable. B Rice could start Immediately, almost anywhere, and his reps were wasted here. The portal is going to be congested with many players looking for a new home. If i were a player I will think long and hard before entering the transfer portal. Could be a bad move. Makes no sense to transfer if you are a starter.
That the conundrum of the portal. They are there for a reason and more than likely will not be high level contributors at CU. Very little uptick from the portal pick ups last year.Basically, we need more size on the OL and more speed all over our defense but particularly in the front 7.
If I were a player I will think long and hard before entering the transfer portal.

Gonzales’s reps were pretty good. He got work. A lot of work. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to stay here. Again, he’s a guy that could compete for a starting spot almost anywhere.
Did you ever consider that a player doesn't enter the portal until he has an offer or two? I don't think its like the Dr Pepper commercial. The portal is going to be congested with many players looking for a new home. The vast majority don't have any offers and have to take a step down in competititon to get a new school. There is so many players in the portals. Coaches can be picky.Did you ever consider that a player doesn't enter the portal until he has an offer or two? I don't think its like the Dr Pepper commercial.
It’s speculative to say that “the team play will get better next year” in my opinion. Bigger numbers can only help him and WR is always a crowded position draft-wise.B Rice is already a starter at CU. He has formed relationships with coacches and his teachers. He knows the enviornment. The team play will get better next ryear. Makes no sense for him to transfer and start from scratch. The same applies to the other starters. Lewis is most likely going to be the starter next season. Why would he give up a starting gig?
There are multiple reasons to think the team will the same or worse next year and absolutely no reason at all to think they’ll be improved. Anyone thinking otherwise is delusional.B Rice is already a starter at CU. He has formed relationships with coacches and his teachers. He knows the enviornment. I put the odds on Lewis starting game one in 2022 at less than 50%, if he stays at all.
Most likely the team will get better on offense. I am actually more concerned about the defense. The odds of Lewis starting is 100 percent. He was already tied with SShtrout coming out of spring ball with no experience. B lewis is now a much more confident kid after 12 starts. And he will get better with another year of offseason work.
NoIf we start losing what little talent we do have, will RG pay attention?
Technically it's against the NCAA rules to have contact with players from other schools until they enter the transfer portal. No one should have an offer before they enter the portal. I am also well aware that everyone bends the rules when it comes to recruiting.Did you ever consider that a player doesn't enter the portal until he has an offer or two? I don't think its like the Dr Pepper commercial.

Would argue exactly the opposite. The portal is going to be congested with many players looking for a new home. If I were a player I will think long and hard before entering the transfer portal. Could be a bad move. Makes no sense to transfer if you are a starter.
Yeah but KD didn't really play well the year before he left. Also the USC coach was fired recently.Would argue exactly the opposite.
At a program like CU if a guy can't start here he isn't going to be in demand by other P5 programs, maybe not even by G5 programs.
They are looking to upgrade, you don't upgrade by taking players who aren't good enough to start for a lousy team.
The guys who will be in demand are the ones who have shown flashes of talent while starting and playing. In those cases a prospective program can look and think they can use that talent.
Good example was KD Nixon going to USC. They had seen enough from him to see him being able to contribute as a returner and a situational contributor with his speed and quickness.
But similar to last year yes there will be a large number of guys in the portal. Anyone who hasn't already shown that they can play shouldn't be surprised if they don't get a lot of interest from other schools.
