Woelk: Storylines Will Be Plentiful When Buffs Open Camp

Darnold lost one game as a starter last year and played some of his best ball against a few of the best teams in the country. He's not being overhyped because he plays for SC. He's being rightfully hyped because he's a big time player. Montez showed flashes against some weak defenses. I like Montez too, but stop with the Darnold comparisons.

USC sent 10 offensive players to the NFL this year (drafted and UDFA)...including four OLs. USC seemed to change when Darnold became QB...but USC also had all new coordinators for the first three games.

My comparison was about QB style, not at all what they have proven on the field. They both seem like guys that thrive when plays break down. Montez didn't get to play much. Darnold did, but man does he lose alot of dudes.

To me PAC12 is full of QBs who might be playing on Sundays: Falk, Browning,...

Point being, you can only praise a QB so much if those are the best wins. Sefo did a very good job leading the team in 2016, but he is not even close to irreplaceable.

Look at Darnold against CU, Washington, and Penn State. That is what a great QB looks like on the biggest stages.

Good point. Question should be did Montez or Sefo have the best win of the season?

I would have to go with Montez's win over the Ducks because it really set the tone for the rest of the season. Sefo had good wins against WSU and Utah but without a win in Eugene, CU might have not been playing for the South title.

So many WRs some were going to be left out by mistake. It's also possible that Jay Mac doesn't get on the field as much due to the depth.

I'm speculating here, but there's a limit to how many can partake and there's some walkons that have a shot of playing.
Kevin George is 100% redshirting, with 4 to play 3. His spot in early camp is likely better used by some Special Team tryouts.

Could be regarding Jay Mac. He's got a lot of experience and he can usually make the tough catch but he's under sized and frequently gets overpowered at the LOS.
