Would you rather...
1) Beat CSU & USC, have a 6-6 record and bowl win.

2) Beat CSU & lose to USC, have a 8-4 record and bowl win.

3) Lose to CSU & USC, have a 10-2 record and bowl loss.

I asked this question to one of my best girlfriends who is an Alabama grad (replaced CSU with Auburn & USC with LSU) and to my best friend who is a Michigan grad (replaced CSU with Ohio State & USC with MSU). I am curious how everyone feels about these hypotheticals.

I would choose #2.

Give me #3 all day. I'd be happy to trade a CSU loss in week 1 for a Washington win 3 weeks later.

The difference between 9-4 and 10-3 is only one game, and if the last game is a bowl win, I'd take that. It would set us up better going forward, IMO.

3. 10-2 gives you a good shot at playing in the conference championship and/or a NY6 Bowl. Never take those opportunities for granted.
Almost guaranteed unless USC runs the table in that scenario because 1 of the 2 losses is non-conference.

Also honestly zero chance that we end up with 2 losses and one of them is CSU. If we are good enough to win 10 games this season we aren't losing to the sheep.

I would say #3 as it would mean we are ranked in the top ten during the months of November and December and will get a lot of publicity and recruits looking at us.

I'll take 2. Not for the CSU win, but the bowl win. I think it's important to show that Mac can win the big ones, and 9 with a decently large win at the end would be pretty nice. 8 wins may be enough for 2nd in the South and should get us a decent bid. The win would take momentum into next year, I think.

USC is a monkey on the back. Ofer.
Only P12 team CU's never beat.

How about an undefeated Nat'l championship run this year to make up for Hawkins and Embree? That's the option I want to see.

To the OP, neg rep for obsessing about a Mountain West Conf school.

If OP means "Original Poster", yes that is me and then you don't understand the question. It's to see what people care about most.

Do they care about:
- Beating our rival and a top-10 team with an average record and bowl win
- Beating our rival and losing to a top-10 team while having an above average record and bowl win
- Losing to our rival and top-10 team with a great record and bowl loss

That is why I added the questions I asked my Michigan and Alabama friends.

It has to be 3 which would be back to back 10 win seasons. Nobody will remember the lamb loss if we win 10 and as Duff said, we would more than likely be in the conference championship and have a shot at a playoff spot. Take 10 and go with it.

Our rival is the top 10 team.
