Buffs at the Combine

Reading the ticker right now...Montez is going to get his ass drafted...he showed up ready.

Maybe Montez was distracted as a student athlete, and now that it’s strictly his profession he’s taking things a little more seriously. Less distractions for him. Who knows.

Either way, I hope he makes the most of his opportunity.

Unfortunately for Viska the stars are not aligning for him. Deep WR class, then runs an uninspiring 40, the only event he is participating in. Has injury flags and gets hurt on the one drill. It also hurts him that some lower tier WRs showed well in their drills, Claypool, Peoples-Jones, Mims. I think he falls out of the first round, if I was a GM I would pass on him in the first because of injuries.

I only takes one team to love you though, so I hope for him that happens.

Uninspiring? He ran a 4.5 with a bad hammie. He’ll be fine.

It’s so odd. I’ve never seen another fan base who actively roots against the success of its own players like this.

How is Montez failing a boon for anyone?

I take your point, but he was the starter for three years, and for three years we were 5-7 and were one game away from a bowl. And for three years Montez would make the same easily avoidable mistakes, again and again and again, and they would cost us at least a couple wins a year. And every year, he would say the right things, a new guru would come in, he would look great in practice, and then make the same mistakes all over again in actual games. He is, easily, the most frustrating qb to play for CU in my memory.

Im not rooting for him to fail, and I dont think anybody else here is either. But hearing people nationally talk about montez looking great in practice, and how his mechanics are getting fixed, etc. is like being poked at with a lit cigarette. He is not moldable, coachable or fixable.

I think he is a poor man’s Sam Darnold or Josh Allen. (Both of whom I think will not be the guy). Entices you with ability but always breaks your heart.

The Athletic’s draft expert essentially said that Shenault ran the time he was expected to run. Didn’t hurt him. His game isn’t based on speed, he has other super powers.

his best attribute imo is the ability to run thru contact, most wrs get hit, viska is the opposite, he does the hitting. Second coming of anquan boldin.

Deebo Samuel is probably the best comp right now. Samuel is slightly fast, based on combine 40 times, but Viska is also about 20 lbs heavier. Similar styles. Great after catch, physical, break tackles.

Jeebus. Shenault isn’t plow horse slow.

Boldin had an all time bad combine performance, terrible 40 (4.7s) and a laughable 3 cone time. He was a sure fire 1st round pick coming out of FSU, most notably for being a monster after the catch. His terrible combine dropped him out of the first and into the second, his game relied on bullying defensive players, and he was freak catching the ball, sound familiar? Boldin was the fastest player to reach 600 receptions until AB84. Boldin has 13,000 yards in his nfl career. We’d be lucky for Viska to be that slow plow horse.

No **** Sherlock. But Shenault isn’t broken down mule slow like Boldin.

Bitch Jim I never said he was. Comparable size and production is all I was comparing. You are nitpicking one skill set that was proven to be unneeded to be productive.

There are not 30 wideouts better than Viska. The film proves that. Sure, there are some injury risk. Playing for free wouldn’t neutralize that risk.
He didn’t run well, that’s the truth. The 40 is only there to help validate the film but anyone who has watched his tape knows he is plenty fast enough on the field. Besides, nobody is looking to draft him because he’s a burner.

And you are using one exception to justify. Boldin is an exception.

The problem is not his speed per se, although you were the guy who said he was going to blow away the 40 and blow up big in the draft, it is the combination of factors most glaring is his injury history. What I am pointing out is the combine has not helped his draft grade, IMO. I would not be surprised if he fell into the second round.
