'20 TX S Christian Gonzalez (SIGNED to COLORADO)

You can discuss ratings all you want.

Key point is that Christian is a big time player who could have gone almost anywhere he wanted to and would have been expected to compete for early playing time. This is the kind of prospect that people look at as a future Sunday player.

Add that he plays a position where we have significant needs and his decision to be a Buff is huge.

If MT and his staff keep producing this kind of recruit we have a bright future ahead of us.

This sucks. NCAA got to make changes to the portal. You should seat out a year if you don't have a life changing event that forces you to transfer.

This hurts for sure, but don’t think restricting player mobility is the solution. That’d be the lazy out IMO. HCKD just needs to do a better job of creating an environment where guys want to stick around and see a clear vision for the future.

NIL is a game changer. Got to promote competition. It is an unfair playing field right now. Can't have guys follow another coach to another team in conference and be allowed to be eligible immediately. Even NfL free agency have rules.

I could be completely wrong about this but I see Gonzo as a first round talent and envisioned him leaving for the draft after next year, being drafted on day 1, at the least. That's assuming he makes a jump to year 3 like he did year 2. If I'm right I'm not sure how transferring really benefits him. He doesn't need to go to another school to gain recognition. I just think it might be a mistake on his part.

I’d like to thank the University of Colorado for the one year of entertainment in my ten years as a season ticket holder. And of course there was a smattering of fun games here and there. And thanks to the Buff Club for my annual packet of useless ****. With that said, after ten years as a season ticket holder, with the support of my family, I’ve decided to take my fan talents and skills and move on. GO BUFFS!

Gonzo was the guy for the Buffs on D, after shaking off some first year jitters. He could have just as easily done the same for next year. Now, he’s taking a chance to get into a situation where he may not produce the same numbers at a different school.

Can’t blame you. How about we take our talents to these guys? They have more commitment to football than the University of Colorado.

He gets paid now.

It’s been a disconnect reading CU fans on AB being largely supportive of NIL while CU is exactly the type of program most likely to get hurt by NIL.
It’s not a disconnect. Most people are in favor of players being able to cash in on their NIL, while also understanding it will hurt CU.

I’ll say it again… Like the transfer portal, there are two sides to this: people who want what’s best for the players and people who want what’s best for CU football.

If the interests of players start to benefit only the top 20% percent of programs then you’re going to have a much smaller sport in the foreseeable future as schools drop football. Probably not a terrible outcome.

I think most people believe this is likely what will happen in the not so distant future. Something like 30 programs who want to make the necessary investment to compete will create their own league and the other 35 P5 programs can create their own league or realign with the mid to higher end G5 programs.

The only way it changes is if the Pac 12, B1G and ACC are able to somehow agree that the best interest of the sport and their conferences would be to actually align and do massive profit sharing across all 40(?) teams, while creating their own set of rules and governing body.

After deep and thoughtful consultation with my family, God, dealin’ Doug, Jake Jabs, and Dave Plati I too am foregoing my final season of eligibility as a CU football fan and I’m entering the NFL Fan Draft going forward as a fan of the Buffalo Bills. Now get Josh some GD support at running back and one more WR!

(kudos to exceptionally funny post by DBT that I have shamelessly hijacked)

You keep talking like the NCAA has some kind of actual authority. Where are you getting this notion?
