San Diego State @ CU Game thread - 11/28 @ 3 PM MT on P12 Network

I will take a 10 point win against a hastily-scheduled team which has the #3 ranked defense in the nation. Vegas had the Buffs insultingly at -3 at home. For the third time this season, the sharps got it wrong, by a lot. San Diego State has been a PAC-12 beater quite often in the past 3 seasons .Enjoy this win.

This post has so much wrong that the wrongness is more funny than sad.

Kind of missed Fontenot tonight. Definitely missed the TEs and Purcell. The key for tonight was no muffed snaps. I did think the accidental wildcat was cute.

They keep saying the Buffs haven’t started a season 3-0 since we joined the Pac 12. That can’t be right. 2018 we started 5-0 and didn’t we start 3-0 one of the years with a garbage OOC schedule?

Edit: 2017 started 3-0 and 2018 started 5-0 so it’s the 3rd time in 4 years we’ve started 3-0
Maybe they meant 3-0 in conference?

Hah
Now try a real answer
The guy has dome nothing impressive since he got here. I told you he was a jag before he played a down fur us, and he's done nothing to disprove that.

I think the majority of the board, at least the intelligent ones, have realized Mangham doesn't bring anything to the table.

17 carries for 24 yards. 3.8 career average. No explosion, no speed.

This game was tough to gage. I agree the play calling was poor, but that defense was the best the Buffs have seen so far. Our defense played lights out, but the SDSU O was awful. Just glad the Buffs pulled out a game they were expected to win. My expectations have increased every week and I expect them to beat Arizona next week... not something I would have said before the season started. Winning out is also not an unreasonable expectation now and that was a ludicrous thought not that long ago. Painful at times to watch but they're frickin' 3-0! Learn from your mistakes, avoid COVID, and let's GO next weekend! Go Buffs!

OK, so he was the RB2 in the first two games, and then we have a bye week, and then he drops off the face of the earth cause he was always a JAG. Gotcha, crystal clear. Thanks

3rd string. Only getting carries because Fontenot was out. If Clayton were healthy, he'd be ahead of him too.

He was a JAG last year too. Didn't show anything.

The experts in Vegas had the Buffs winning by only 3. Buffs beat the spread by 7, which is is small in comparison to Colorado beating the spread by double digits in both of their first two games against UCLA and Stanford.

Defense is much easier to throw together on short notice than offense. The 3-3-5 defense forces o-line to rethink a lot of rule blocking that 4 and 5 man fronts allow for.
When I was coaching we ran the 3-3-5 because I knew the problems it created for the opponent’s line.

Please explain.
sharps did not get this game wrong.

To start, you’re not even using the right terms. A sharp is a handicapper who correctly assesses a bookmaker’s line strengths/weaknesses more offen than not. Sharps made their entire weekends on this game.

This game was a bloodbath for sportsbooks since it was a setup from the start. Circa is the market setter. Sharps put small money on Colorado when the game was opened as a pickem to make Colorado a two point dog. Then, there were sharps (me included) who hammered Colorado +2, then +1.5, and so on. Most shops closed Colorado -3.5/4 given the big money buyback on Colorado.

The books needed SDSU today and it didn’t happen even though they closed a bad line for Colorado bettors. Chalk one up for the sharps.

chev called a decent game-- i will never love the bubble screens, but we're running the ball. that's a good thing.

keep winning and things get interesting.

It’s really, really hard to evaluate where this team is based on this game. Sure, the D looked great. But SDSU had the most one dimensional offense we will see this year.

Our offense looked like they had no plan for dealing with SDSU stacking the line and going all out against the run. After early success, we just kept running up the middle into 7 defenders committed to stuffing the run. I can recall few times we tried to get outside. And Noyer didn’t look comfortable at all. Watching on TV it’s impossible to tell what was going on downfield. Failure to get Stanley involved was a huge fail.
