Eric Bien(i)emy's next job speculation, shut out again

So basically, yes, there have been plenty of coaches who’ve made the transition from college to pro. There’s no reason why Urban can’t.

A lot of people think of Saban as an NFL failure, but as many people have pointed out over the years, he had put the Dolphins on a road that could have led to being successful when the Dolphins' medical staff didn't clear Drew Brees to play for them, and they made the ill-fated decision to go with Daunte Culpepper instead.

I read at one point that Saban's frustration with that and some other obstacles that he ran into while trying to build the Dolphins' roster the way he wanted is why he said "**** the NFL" and went to Alabama.

I'm just wondering why you think Urban's successor is better than Urban, and so far you've given me the following reasons...

1. Ryan Day isn't OK with losing
2. Ryan Day is a QB guru (as if Urban Meyer isn't??)
3. Gut feeling

Do better Andrew
Ooooo, we are doing first actual names now. When you both decide to argue in person over zoom, post the link and join details and I will be there. This keeps getting better.

I can’t think of a worse situation for EB than the Jets. I mean, it’s an NFL head coaching job and all, but it feels like that’s a no-win situation.

The only way that works for both sides is if the Jets give him the same arrangement Kyle Shanahan got. **** I hope EB doesn't end up there.

Teams either must not believe he has much to do with the offensive success in KC or he is a dog **** interviewer.

Something is not clicking and makes me sad
Should he have taken the CU job
Run for 3 years and then go back to NFL?
Or should he go somewhere else to run the offense by himself?

But he might have to do it laterally before he can move up.
Yeah, I understood your point.

However, I am not sure it makes sense. Maybe he moves somewhere else, but unless he hits gold right away, its going to be 2-3 years at the earliest for him to get a gig somewhere else. Might as well stay in KC and keep interviewing. If he doesn't get one this year or next, then there is something bigger at play imo

Not to say that EB isn't a good OC, but at the same time it's hard not to be good when you have Mahomes, Hill, Kelce, Hardman, etc. on your offense. Maybe that's why alot of teams are reluctant to hire him as their HC.

He‘s possibly getting passed over for the third year in a row. I think there’s definitely something bigger at play here

I wonder if the stench of his stint at CU is creating problems. I know that was a long time ago, and I question whether NFL teams would care one way or the other about what he did at a random college, but it was a disaster.

His playing time issues at CU would be a bigger problem than his coaching time at CU

My guess is this has a lot less to do with any of his time at CU as a coach or a player and more to do with something going on with his interviews. Strange to me that he would struggle with interviews. I have met him on several occasions, not job interviews, and he is so personable, a very good communicator, and comes of as extremely intelligent. I can guess what teams want to see in an 8nterview about staff, strategy, schemes, personnel knowledge and opinions of changes that need to be made, leadership style, etc. I just find it hard to believe he does not do well in these conversations.

I think its a bias against Short(er) People!

I'm not surprised no one will hire him. He is not a head coach. He doesn't have a particularly likeable personality. He isn't regarded as really having anything to do with KCs offensive success.

I disagree biggly
Whether he has LOTS to do with the KC offense right now, he has the secret sauce, and he can make Running Backs great in any offense!
Maybe he is not interviewing worth a darn and maybe College would have been his thing
