So basically, yes, there have been plenty of coaches who’ve made the transition from college to pro. There’s no reason why Urban can’t.
Not to harp specifically on Urb (because I think he's a great coach), how many college coaches have been successful at the pro level? I can only think of Pete Carroll at the moment.
Really?Multiple national predictions saying Texans are planning to hire EB. Had to get the GM hired.
Even longer but so did ParcellsIt’s been a while but Dick Vermeil made the jump as well
Ooooo, we are doing first actual names now. When you both decide to argue in person over zoom, post the link and join details and I will be there. This keeps getting better.I'm just wondering why you think Urban's successor is better than Urban, and so far you've given me the following reasons...
1. Ryan Day isn't OK with losing
2. Ryan Day is a QB guru (as if Urban Meyer isn't??)
3. Gut feeling
Do better Andrew
Really?
I can’t think of a worse situation for EB than the Jets. I mean, it’s an NFL head coaching job and all, but it feels like that’s a no-win situation.
Teams either must not believe he has much to do with the offensive success in KC or he is a dog **** interviewer.
Something is not clicking and makes me sad
Should he have taken the CU job
Run for 3 years and then go back to NFL?
Or should he go somewhere else to run the offense by himself?
Well, to be fair, that's what he is trying to doFree yourself from Reid and Mahomes and show teams you can do it on your own.
Well, to be fair, that's what he is trying to do
Yeah, I understood your point. But he might have to do it laterally before he can move up.
Yeah, I understood your point.
However, I am not sure it makes sense. Maybe he moves somewhere else, but unless he hits gold right away, its going to be 2-3 years at the earliest for him to get a gig somewhere else. Might as well stay in KC and keep interviewing. If he doesn't get one this year or next, then there is something bigger at play imo
That has zero impact.I wonder if the stench of his stint at CU is creating problems. I know that was a long time ago, and I question whether NFL teams would care one way or the other about what he did at a random college, but it was a disaster.

I think its a bias against Short(er) People! My guess is this has a lot less to do with any of his time at CU as a coach or a player and more to do with something going on with his interviews. Strange to me that he would struggle with interviews. I have met him on several occasions, not job interviews, and he is so personable, a very good communicator, and comes of as extremely intelligent. I can guess what teams want to see in an 8nterview about staff, strategy, schemes, personnel knowledge and opinions of changes that need to be made, leadership style, etc. I just find it hard to believe he does not do well in these conversations.

I disagree bigglyI'm not surprised no one will hire him. He is not a head coach. He doesn't have a particularly likeable personality. He isn't regarded as really having anything to do with KCs offensive success.
