#Fire Coach Dorrell

Eh, I wouldn't put it all on him. They could all certainly ask more tough questions but Plati is such a bitch, he would absolutely take access away if questions became "too tough". And I don't think it would take much for him to decide that.

Become a folk hero. Make Plati act like a petulant middle school girl and revoke access. Then you can be the one voice of reason among all the fanny kissers.
I agree with lefty. ****ing make him pull your access, and go scorched earth about how much of a bunch of echo chamber cucks that CU athletics administration is and that their information silo would make the KGB and Kim Jong-Un say "whoa, pump the brakes boys". Maybe that's the best path to real change.

Done. Plati as a petulant middle school girl (sorry to the random school girl below).

I've experienced a lot of bad football. I started attending CU in 2009. I went to every home game for the next 4 years, bought season tickets and attended almost all since then. Last night I decided I'm not buying tickets next season. There's nothing to still give me any confidence things are getting better any time soon. It's a waste of money and time. in the off chance I do want to attend a game, I'll have no trouble finding a second hand single game ticket. The Dorrell era has broken me.

So if they fire HCKD, who here wants RG hiring the next coach?
He's 50/50 hiring football coaches. For ADs that's really a decent batting average.

He's 0.000 at negotiating decent contracts for those hires.

I'd let him hire another coach, as long as he outsources the contract negotiation.

With the McChesney prospect, pretty much just be done with anyone with ties to the Buffs program, save Cabral. I just think that until the 777 in a nosedive, that is the program, pulls out and gets back up to cruising altitude and speed…no more former Buffs, unless it’s EB. Unless it’s easier to let the plane crash, clean up, and start a new…

How does that work when you’re a beat writer or content person who’s job it is to cover the University of Colorado sports? Even the national/league media people suck Plati’s member.

This is easy to say, but you’re asking people whose entire job depends on access to risk it by taking on an AD who is (stupidly) under contract for 5 more years, a PR person who somehow would be the only person left on Earth if a nuclear bomb fell and a HC who has a fully guaranteed contract that pretty much guarantees him 3 more years. Would I love to see someone go scorched Earth? Hell yes. But I’m not gonna blame them for playing it safe and hoping some of the bigger guns (Kizla, etc) go after them. That’s just common sense.

I get that. So the choices are, be a lapdog, have everyone know you are, but have a job, or go out with guns blazing and risk getting a future job being a real journalist that actually asks difficult questions. That latter is definitely more risky, but also more respectable.

Yeah, because there's a lot of demand for sports journalists who go guns blazing. This isn't covering the White House, this is covering a ****ty football program that no one cares about.

Using Kizla for good? This is the kind of demented idea that just might work! Because that guy is the biggest taint on "journalism" in Colorado.

This is where the disintegration of local newsrooms (print, radio and TV) really hurts.

Now that nearly every local newsroom is fighting for survival it's much easier for an intransigent AD to pick them off.

It used to be that if an AD cut off one local reporter merely for being critical that the others would walk out in solidarity, or step up their criticism.

Now they're all too weak to make a principled stand.

And to be clear, this is on the editors, it's not on the reporters. If any of the reporters was confident their editor would back them up, they'd turn up the heat.

I can't stand him, but I do have to give him credit for one thing - every time he does a hatchet job on someone or some team, he makes sure to be there in person the next day at practice/game/whatever so people can call him on it if they think it was unfair.

Sadly, that's the bar local sports guys have to clear for me to not think they're worthless.

Kizla is such a tool that when he goes scorched Earth, most folks immediately think the correct course if action is to go the completely opposite direction. In fact, if we could pull it off, we should have him come out and say KD and Chev just need more time.

Even Arizona would be a hard pass on HCKD if he were available. The guy won’t leave on his own and RG has hitched his wagon to him. This is another low point in CU football that will takes years to rebound.

No clue how we are going to attract fans after being terrible for so long. I grew up watching the late 80’s to 90’s Buffs teams, but if I were a kid today why would I even care about CU football? That’s the sh**** part of all this, the program will suffer with donations in future years once the committed generations retire/expire.

Something has to be done, but it won’t.
I'll tell you with all honesty it's a rare case to find an elite level HS football player in this state that considers CU a legit option. If they're a top 20 player in state, they have much better options. The majority of D1 level recruits in the state regard CU on the same level as CSU and Wyoming when considering schools. The only ones realistically considering CU these days have some sort of tie to the school. And even some of those have been ignored and allowed to go out of state. I've been in conversations with legit D1 recruits who literally played their HS games adjacent to campus who laugh when the idea of playing at CU came up.

A halfway decent recruiter would change that in a hurry. CU has a lot to offer - good facilities, good conference affiliation, etc. We aren’t going to compete against the elites for CO talent, but we should be able to have an advantage against similar schools who are out of state.

I should have specified, I really meant more the collective and bigger outlets than guys like Howell or Adam individually. That was a hasty post made in frustration of our ridiculous ****ing athletic department/school admin, trying to rush out my stream of consciousness before my plane took off and I lost it.

It's going to take a piece from a bigger outlet like the Denver post, local news, maybe the athletic to all go in on it then everyone can comfortably pile on. Adam is a ****ing stud, I wish he would find a program that will appreciate him and will give him the access he deserves. He's too good for this Mickey Mouse operation that's living in 1990 but recruiting like it's 1890.

Eh, the actual P5 level recruits don’t view CU on the same level as CSU and Wyoming. Those kids are the fringe P5 kids who are mostly being recruited by CSU and Wyoming and haven’t been offered by CU.

The last part makes me laugh a bit because outside of like Carlo Kemp, kids from Fairview and other surrounding HS programs who choose to laugh at the idea of going to CU have mostly gone on to ride the bench at the “better” programs.

LOL!!! Actually so down for this the rest of year if they can fire Rod

It would be entertaining. He certainly wouldn't be quiet about his frustrations. And it would be epic when it became time to fire him.
Give it a ride for the rest of the year so at least we would have his tirades to entertain us while the football sucked. Can fire him with the rest and of the staff at the end of the year or next year or the year after. Whatever
