Official CU-Oregon Pregame/Game Thread

I got this one.

CU will definitely abandon the run. Won’t use play action or draws whatsoever. They will make the game longer while giving Oregon ample opportunities to run away with it. The coaches will chase touchdowns that aren’t there. More stupid penalties and complete anarchy will ensue.
Pretty much.

Don’t abandon the run so quick. They gave Texas a run for their money stuffing the ball down their throat. Use play action and draws to keep them on their toes. Control the clock, don’t give them the opportunity to run away with the game and get us chasing touchdowns that aren’t there. Stop the penalties. Discipline.
Appreciate that.

Yeah, that was my reaction too. And also he said "y'all" which makes me think that he's not necessarily acting in good faith. Maybe another tip was when he repeatedly suggested we keep attacking players, which - of course - we're not.

The stuff you learn on here is mind blowing. One dude thinks there’s a correlation between the level of rule adherence on Allbuffs and the performance of the football team and another now defines “giving a run for their money” as being down by a touchdown plus for pretty much the entire game and believes that the concept of fair weather fandom exists at a team that’s averaged like 4 wins a season the last decade and a half.

No. Berger reminds me of Surveyor. Thinks he can come on here and post **** that the rest of us will agree with-but his blather is so dumb.
When somebody continually insists we are bashing players (without evidence) when it's clearly not the case, it's a troll.

Eh I don't think Surveyor is THAT stupid as to believe we will agree with what he says on pretty much anything.

I consider myself a pretty big college football fan (there are most certainly more who follow alot closer than I do though). However, part of that fandom, I'll check out other Schools team fan sites to see what they got going on, especially if it relates to CU.

I'm not going to debate what is right and wrong when discussing college players, because I typically try to stay away from that (coaches and AD's are fair game though).

I think you would completely **** yourself if you saw what people wrote about players from other fan bases. Like stuff that would drop your jaw to the floor.

You're painting the CU fanbase with a pretty big brush here. There are assholes in this fanbase, just like every fan base. However, allbuffs and its zero star mods are pretty good at calling people out who go too far.

CU is struggling mightily, especially on offense. Like historically bad. I mostly blame the coaches because they really suck at their jobs right now, but not all of that blame can go on them. Inevitably, some blame has to fall on the players who are actually playing the game. It comes with the territory, unfortunately.

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. If you have a personal relationship with a specific player then fan websites are not the place for you. You'll go insane. Do what you want, but I can safely say allbuffs is pretty tame compared to the wide world of college football fan sites.

Hopefully you stick around, and if you do, never, and I mean never, open up a PM from a guy named burrito.
This is great advice! Beware the burrito!

Also, check your PMs.

Hi. We're fans. We're horrible.

We're not the most horrible fans, but all fans are horrible. It's what we are.

We have strong opinions about things we are unable to do (coaching/playing). We feel entitled because this entire show is for us, and driven by our dollars. We lack human compassion and awareness. The worst of us gather on chat sites just like this one.

This should be the going in assumption. I'm sorry that it caught you off guard.

You should check out the political forum. You'll find us to be more compassionate in our interactions there.
Uncle Ken needs to change his name to E. F. Hutton.

Nope. I didn’t talk trash on Rice. I said I didn’t think his comments were appropriate. And I’m far from squirming. I just don’t think it’s cool to constantly trash talk kids who are out there trying their hardest. This isn’t just about one comment about Wiley. It’s been happening all season. Pathetic.
Nah. You did. You said that him saying his teammates not buying in says a lot about his character. That maybe Rice isn’t the one buying in. That’s taking trash.

Fontenot and Davis. I just don’t see Davis getting much bigger (the base for his r/s plan as a jr?). Fontenot is getting reps, but even when he was RB1 in ‘19, he never seemed to break a big run like the RB1’s that preceded him in the couple of seasons before (Lindsay and T-Mac) and superseded him (J-Brou). He is able to get the job done many times, but with Broussard, Smith, Clayton(?), and (incoming) Venn, it’s going to be a log jam. Stacks has found his niche.

hopefully I’m wrong (very likely), and the staff will find a way to make it all gel…
Tell me more about Stacks’ niche.

Yep. There are aspects of being a coach or athlete someone will never get if he/she has never walked in those shoes. But knowing the game, what has been successful or failed in similar situations, and being able to tell if someone is doing a good job? That's something anyone of normal intelligence can learn & form valid opinions.
And I’d point out it’s a lot easier when you witness extremes.

* Also, I played and coached football…so this year looks really extreme.

fwiw, I had always been of the strong opinion that college athletes shouldn't be subjected to message board attacks. It has been an opinion mostly shared and policed on AllBuffs.

Now that we have the NIL and it's turned into a public-facing job for which they're getting paid, I don't know what my argument would be to keep our policy.

They're not kids. They're not amateurs. Why should they be protected?
And what about the normal students and parents who are leveraging everything they have financially to attend this (any) school while the football team that putting out absolute dog **** yet getting their entire stay paid for? Can they talk all the **** they want? That seems fair.

If you think insulting young men who are out there doing their best is par for the course, maybe you need to take a look at yourself and see what you’re compensating for.
Here’s what I think:
- there’s a lot less talented teams/players out there that look like they are putting in a lot more effort and having much better results.
- also, P5 football players are the pinnacle of the sport. Much like them, I have busted my ass to get to where I am. But when I watch this team, I can’t help but think “why don’t you have as much pride in what you do as I do in what I do?” And if you’re going to tell me that they are trying hard, so it’s good enough, just watch that play by the Oklahoma freshman quarterback. That was “try”. That was “give a ****.”
- and yeah, if you want to come to my work and try to talk **** about what I do, you’re more than welcome. DM me.
