Obviously a long shot but I mean we suck and what else is there to get excited about… If lame duck KD pulls JT Daniels to CU, I will be so grateful that it’ll bleed into my opinions and I’ll be unbearably optimistic
I am drawn to agreeing with this. But my next reaction is how sad it is to get both a brand new--potentially top-shelf--OL from Alabama AND maybe a 5* QB, but then end up losing all these starting players that we will not be able to replace immediately: Gonzales, Broussard, Rice, Blackmon, Perry, (Lang?), etc.

Sure, maybe they are all ultimately replaceable. But bringing in one or two year mercenary transfers while losing the core of our best young and current starters seems an oddly disjoined approach to (attempted) success.

Yea I meant there’s no denying this program has hit near rock bottom and is currently scratching its bloody hands to get deeper in the hole.

I think team morale could use a couple exciting players to talk about this off season to then go into our 2 win season with some artificial hype

Also I read a piece on Daniels back in the day where he called all his plays in HS, essentially acted as OC, while at mater dei then graduated a year early.

again, we can all agree this luck won’t/shouldn’t fall upon our program but like I’ll be hopeful for a couple days is where I’m at as a buffs fan.

You have to bring out your A material.

I am not up to date on the new rules. But 5 early enrollees used to be allowed to count towards the previous year. CU signed 19 players in 2021. Can count 5 players from the 2022 class as 2021 signees. If the old rules on early enrollees still apply CU can sign up to 37 players this cycle. 25 plus 5 early enrollees plus 7 transfer replacements. Already signed 26 players. 11 spots remaining.

The 85 limit is the issue

JT Daniels was hot garbage at USC and beat out by a walk-on at UGA. I’m not sure if he’d start here. He’s not good.
Um... what?

Okay, so if you took his stats so far in his career and put him on CU's leaderboards he'd be 10th in TD's, 1st in CMP%, 8th in Y/A, 3rd in QB rating, 8th in total yards... I mean, if he's not good I dunno who is.

EDIT- 17 TD's and 5 INT in his last two years. Wouldn't mind seeing him get a full season.

I think an intern has taken over KDs twitter
It was Chandler Dorrell running it AFAIK up until August of 2021. Not sure if someone else has taken it over or if Chandler realized maybe he needed to tweet more. Either way, daddy's boy was bad at that too in addition to being terrible at the role he's currently in and unqualified for.

KD has been a lot less shy about encouraging kids to move on than previous coaches... and with the players increasingly treating this like a business (not that they're wrong!) then why wouldn't we get a little more aggressive when it comes to cutting kids?
I am not.a fan of cutting kids before they graduate.

This whole situation just pisses me off to no end.

Why in the **** is it ok for pure, unadulterated nepotism to exist in the program?

If you've got pull with other coaches, have them hire your kid.

It's such a terrible look and policy. If your kid can't make it on their own you failed. Let them sleep in your basement until they find a real job.

99 times out of 100, it's how you end your night with a bouncer kicking your ass & a restraining order. But that 1 time is magic, amirite?
I am pretty sure that if I end the night 99 times being thrown out by a bouncer and hit with a restraining order, there aren't going to be any more bars or clubs to try, and I live in a really big city. In that delightful scenario, it's likely that magical 1 time is going to happen in prison.

In this era, I have to say, I don't disagree with this approach--maybe amplified to the Nth degree during this particular year. The present circumstances provide a truly unique opportunity to overhaul an entire roster in one season.

IF that has been the plan all along, I would be far more impressed than I have been. Though, I think the essence of such a plan would have to be culling the mediocre depth of the roster and not all its young talent--which is a large part of what we've done. So, I remain highly skeptical.

It’s not his play as much as it’s his health, he can sling it but is like nfl Sam Bradford when it comes to being available

All that matters is you have a great time.
