Time to reboot this forum, I suppose

Yep, completely agree. I highly doubt they make changes anytime soon as he has produced solid results and is part of the Wisconsin family (one of the more incestual programs in the country, btw). I just wonder about their long term expectations. They seem content being "Iowa" where they are going to expect to be IN the B1G CG every year, but have almost zero expectations of winning it.
As long as Ohio St, Michigan, and Penn St are functioning at a high level, that will be the case. Wisconsin isn't going to start out recruiting those guys unless they have an absolutely elite hire.

I think they could compete with Penn State and Michigan in recruiting if they really made the effort, but it's more than just that. When you are a program that believes the forward pass is a necessary evil, it limits your ability to recruit the athletes and playmakers on offense that are needed. I was listening to Russillo last week and he was talking about how Iowa consistently pisses away CFP caliber Defense and ST units by refusing to bring in an OC who can build a modern offense and recruit to it. I think the same goes for Wisconsin. If the B1G wasn't so lopsided in their divisions, neither Iowa or Wisconsin would have had the success they've had over the past 6+ years. Also, here comes USC to the B1G West.

idk if Herman and Mullen will have all that many options. I think once guys "fail" at a big job, other big jobs are pretty reluctant to give them another shot. The Charlie Strong effect maybe?

All I know is, CU needs a guy who either calls the plays himself, or at least has an effective system they can put in place. The KD system aint it, the MM system wasn't it, no more guys that aren't known as innovators and experts on their side of the ball. We can't be hiring a CEO type HC, we need someone that fixes at least one side of the ball, then can worry about hiring a really good guy for the other side. I mean at least give me a Justin Wilcox type where their defense is great, but he has been unable to get a decent offense going.

I mean, that's true, but MT also won 4 games that year against P5 teams.

If KD can beat Minnesota on the road next week and then go 3-6 in conference, I strongly suspect he gets another year regardless of what happens this Saturday.
I put the bar at 3 wins for retention into 2023. But, the losses had to be palatable. These 30 point blowouts MIGHT seal the deal. Still, I think there’s a good chance KD is back at the start of next year if there’s any “improvement” down the stretch. I’m not saying there will be improvement, just if.

The schedule sets up perfectly for CU to definitely not get a single moral victory in the last month of the season. The game against USC is nationally televised on a Friday night, probably on FS1, and will possibly be the biggest beatdown of the year, not to mentioning Utah sending the season out on another 40 point losing margin note.

I think “the worst is yet to come” is probably the most accurate adage. I don’t want it for the athletes in the slightest, but November was always going to be Murderers Row. Even the AZ schools are performing better than expected. The national media had us pegged, much to my surprise and dismay.

Utah and U$C will compete with each other to see who beats us by the largest margin.

Josh McCown has interviewed for NFL coaching jobs............at the very least hiring him would presumably stop Owen from transferring
Do the Texans really count as an NFL team at this point?

I want CU to lean heavily into finding an offense-minded coach. In the last four hires, CU has gone more with defense (MacIntyre and Tucker) than offense. I’m not sure what you’d call Embree, since he was never a play caller at any level. Dorrell is just bad offense.

Seems like the two defensive coaches you mentioned were our best hires out of the last 5.

They were, no doubt.

I think Hawkins was the only one people considered a real offensive minded coach (and we now know that was all Petersen).

Having an offensive genius (or defensive genius) would be nice but this is a program that is not only torn to the ground, it is running down the sewer.

We need a program builder. We need somebody who can not only build a coaching staff but also build a recruiting staff, build the consultant/analyst staff to generate and evaluate the data, build a real S&C and sports medicine staff, build the academic support staff, etc.

Don't want to insult the legacy of Marshall but this program needs to effectively function like we had a plane wreck and are starting from brand new.

Is Owen really the kind of player we need to hire coaches specifically to protect? No one on this roster warrants that kind of move IMO, just hire the best coach possible and let the roster chips fall where they may.
