Official CU Head Coach Search Thread - Primetime

Grimes, Sanders, Rhule, Patterson. I think Bronco is out, but I think he will listed.
I can agree on Sanders and Rhule for various reasons, but Grimes, BM and GP aren’t unattainable, IMO. This is still a program that hired Mel Tucker and was in on Ryan Day, and Brett Bielema, among others. Of course, they will have to prove they are committed to winning as RG just stated.

I've had ODU season tickets for 5 years and I'll say that Ricky Rahne is building something good here, and looks to have the makings of a good coach, BUT I think he's still a year or two away from a P5 gig.

Did do a great job in winning 6 games to end the season last year to make a bowl, but did start the season 0-6. He also made some head scratcher decisions this year at pivotal points in games. Also fired/had his OC quit two weeks before the season began. Head scratcher.

I do like how he has the team exuding energy, just needs to get it pointed in the right direction.

Bottom Line - I think he'd be a better candidate with another year after this one under his belt, but we're looking this year.

Now watch him win out go 10-2 and make me eat my words (which I'd gladly do.)

There is so much talent oozing out of the Hampton Roads that I’m leery of singular success at ODU. I’d like a coach that won elsewhere as well.

Bill O'Brien, ha ha ha
How about just go get Jeff Fisher FFS
I'd be hesitant to engage anybody working for Saban or Smart after the Sarkisian fiasco. I'd be very surprised if a guy like him or Todd Monken answer a call from RG.

Here is the 221 page Nebraska Coaching Search thread. They have a head start on you on ideas. Mostly but not completely a different set of names.

1) no collective
2) underfunded, poorly structured recruiting
3) anemic donor base
4) indifferent admin
5) legacy of losing
6) significant transfer impediments
it’s gonna take a special cat willing to take on these elements.

You are gonna get EB and you will like it 👿

I acknowledged that and assume if they are going to pay Dorrell $8.7m + another $4m or so for the staff to go away, they aren’t just going to keep everything the same while just changing coaches.

I think there are going to be some pro-football changes made by Saliman. We’ll see

ESPNs list

Ryan Walters, Illinois DC
Troy Calhoun, AFA HC
Bryan Harsin, Auburn HC
Alex Grinch, USC DC
Kasey Dunn, Okie Lite OC
EB, KC Chiefs OC
Brent Brennan, San Jose St. HC
Donte Williams, USC DBs Coach
Willie Fritz, Tulane HC
Matt Entz, North Dakota St. HC
Aaron Roderick, BYU OC

The pool of FCS guys are more interesting to me than the G5s. Matt Entz and Jay Hill both intrigue me.

Given KSU's start this season with Klieman, I'm ok with Entz. Expect a run heavy (even with the QB) offense like at KSU under Entz. BLewis is the only QB on the roster that could work in that offense. Wil have to hit the transfer market hard since every other CU QB could depart. I hope he's not on the Nubs radar given his ties to the region.

Jay Hill would be a good one too given where Weber State was before his arrival.

Sean Lewis the Kent State coach is one I'd be interested in.

I wouldn't mind Fritz, Mullen, or Calhoun but the new HC is going to have to really recruit and I wonder if older coaches have that kind of energy.

Starting to like the idea of Dunn.

Bill O'Brien is dog ****, period
He is a bad head coach, might be a nice OC, but he is Jeff Fisher 2.0

He did a heck of a job at Penn State when they were in serious trouble with the NCAA due to their former DC that molested little boys in the locker room showers.
