Official Colorado vs. Wazzu Game Thread 11/17/23

I would love to see what the next guy will do with CU since this might not work. Let's give you a limited recruiting map, a transfer portal where you are more likely to lose your good players than gain, and let's put that on the next guy.

Yep, let's do it. Prime is bad, get someone better. Should be easy

For a fanbase that literally had the worst team in the last 20 seasons, you guys are talking like you had a bowl eligible last year and Prime brought this team down.

This might not work, then find someone better.

I don’t read his post like that at all.

Those are fair criticisms by Hawg - hell Prime explicitly said he doesn't care about culture.

Culture ****ing matters.

Hey, your input is valued here. No need to get touchy. Onward and upward. This is a normal rebuild that’s going to take a total of 3-4 years. As you note, we started in the cellar. Go Buffs!

I do. Expectations can be unrealistic from us all but we gotta be reasonable.

This team had the top ranked transfer class even if it was mainly due to volume.

We had a top 35 HS recruiting class.

Our freshman for the most part have showed the talented needed and even outplayed what we expected like Stoutmire.

Hunter, Shilo, and Shedeur took a leap, especially Shilo.

We got a lot to be proud at considering in the previous seasons, CU been losing talent left and right to the portal while replacing them with low 3 stars with barely any other offers.

We won 4 games this year and pulled off an upside v. TCU who won a playoff game last year.

We gotta be reasonable too. Saying this might not work out is insane when a team improved as much as we have.

That's just not true, what do you think tough, fast, smart, discipline is? That's instilling values for what? A culture.

What Prime was referring to is styles? Oregon has a style they recruit to that's been there since Chip Kelly offensively. Schools have culture, CU didn't. Basically Prime was saying that didn't matter. I personally believe it does but CU didn't have it so what do you want him to say. Coaches are going to favor what they have. He's gonna sell the facilities. The mountains. **** like that

Does Sanders have the patience for that? Building the machine probably is a 3-4 year process.
he stayed at jackson for 3 years and there is no hope of winning it all there.

he can win it all at CU but unless everything breaks miraculously right, it is going to take a few seasons...

C'mon man this ain't a secret

Utah has a culture. Alabama has a culture. tOSU has a culture. Every good football team that also sustains success has a culture, CU has no culture and a HC who has said he doesn't care about culture and doesn't care if the team likes each other, that's bull****.

Read my post again, you quoted it before I edited it.

Our fans, Prime says this: why he don't tell the truth

Our fans, Prime said we aren't this, he's an asshole, he don't understand us.

You can't win with some of us.

I don’t. Suggesting it might ultimately not work is fair and asking questions after a presumed 1-8 finish to the season is also fair. No one is beyond reproach. He’s never won at this level and it’s his job to analyse this season, identify the issues and fix them. I’m hopeful but there’s a chance it doesn’t work as there are no guarantees.

How? The team improved more than any team via PFF by a significant margin. How can you not see the positive side of this?

Just turning out that the rebuild still has a lot of issues. And I’ve got full confidence that Prime will address the issues.

If he can keep up recruiting of talented players and coaches, we will be fine.

And yet you chose to take offense at someone saying it in regards to Deion Sanders.
This is the post at question

There are some concerns at the core, lack of talent notwithstanding. No belief in culture, likely team disunity, rampant individualism.

I like Prime. But this may not work. Eyes wide open.
Do you cosign this?

When Arizona was losing and playing like **** in the beginning of the season, did they have good culture?

Then their QB got injured, they started playing Fifita, and now here they are, 7-3 and beating Utah ass right now.

So what's UA culture? Is it named Fifita?

CU has bad trenches and it showed. Why do we overcomplicate things so much?

We’re going to find out in the next 3 months whether the Prime “experiment” is truly going to work. His main value as a CFB coach is his ability to build, create, and manage relationships to the point where he is recruiting at a high level, keeping talented players on his current roster, and attracting high level coaches/personnel people.

If he can close on a top 30 HS class and a top 5 portal class again, along with bringing in sought after coaches to replace the underperformers, it will likely work.

And Colorado is a 1st down away from beating Arizona.

Okay, that's all you got to say my man.

Kk. I just think noone is beyond reproach and after the last 20 years I give no free passes and believe everyone needs to be questioned at all times, especially when the team has lost 7 of its last 8 and just got boat raced by a team that'd lost their previous six.

And Colorado is a 1st down away from beating Arizona.
And Arizona is in their third year, with the first year record being 1-11 in a much weaker Pac12.

Some of the posters here would be so mad if CU hires Fisch and got 1-11 in the first year. There would be 100 pages of discussions about whether Fisch brings right culture to CU or not.

Shedeur has elite physical traits and the composure of a 10 year elite NFL vet. His decision making (holding the ball, not throwing it away, game management) needs work, but would be greatly masked with better talent around him.
This. With an even serviceable OLine he's sitting front row at the Heisman Club in 3 weeks and we're probably 7-4 going into SLC next week.

Now ask me if I think we can fix the OLine situation before next September...
