2025 Spring Football

What percentage of really rich people do you think cash and keep their social security checks?

Almost all of them.

Part of the mentality is that they will take advantage of everything they have earned or are entitled to. I say this without judgement in any way. Personal decision imho.
No judgement, just curiosity.

Context:

The narrative is that dark money has been prevalent in CFB because people of means who wanted their teams to win were willing to throw it at players. The case I'm describing is where people of means -- those with literally the most interest in winning -- passed on a legal option to benefit their own teams.

@skibum 's explanation makes sense. I think I heard that before.

I should apologize to Mr Cleveland for saying I thought he quit on his teammates.

He posted he is transferring because it's part of "God's plan" (same thing Nwankwo said)

They may be tough and independent young men, but heck, they're not calling the shots, God is.

be nice to see one of these guys man up and speak the truth.

Yeah, I mean they should tell us which god.

Christ, dude.

Was he running with the 1st team this spring?

I saw him as a guy happy with his role and team. Just a terrible example of how college sports have hit the toilet.
I do not wish him ill, but I hope he rides the pine for the rest of his career.
I also do not wish him ill. Having said that, I hope he is imprisoned for life and forced to toss 50 salads per day.

The number retirement is being blown way out of proportion. Numbers can be un-retired just as easily as they are retired. Coach Prime said this wouldn’t be an issue if not for his last name. He’s partly right. This has more to do with keeping Prime happy than with honoring anything Shedeur has done, IMO.

Don't discount the publicity factor with them already dominating the chatter leading up to next week's draft.

I had a thought (yeah, I know) that having their numbers retired will forever tie their allegiance to The University of Colorado. They will forevermore be Buffs. That’s a pretty good thing.

This. And it's more recent. Recruits look up at the existing names and have no clue who they are. They see Hunter and Sanders - that's much more tangible.

I wouldn't choose the word "allegiance" as I think Shedeur's and Travis's relationship with the school is already set. It more sends the message to the outside world and Travis and Shedeur are Buffs.

And the whole timing thing is a straw man to lessen the appearance of pettiness and bitchiness from those who are complaining about this. Their college careers are over. There's nothing else to prove at the collegiate level. The timing thing only makes sense if we're talking about a Rae Carruth. But then you just take his name down.

Anyone going to the game? I’m gonna be honest I kinda forgot it was today. Plus paying nearly $100 to take a family of 4 to the game seemed excessive

If this was Alabama and Coach Saban, the entire fanbase would be 100% losing their minds in support of it. "Another beacon of the greatness of the Tide!" Instead, in our perpetual sadazz Eeyore of a fanbase is in a tizzy, whinging and moaning and not flipping a collective finger to the rest of the CFB world as we should be doing.

I see Cash as very little difference from Charlie. Great kid, great work ethic, good for the culture. Although Cash can actually be put in and play and be ok. I think he is worthy of a scholly.
I don't think this is a scholly issue, is it? I assumed he wanted to start after getting a taste of playing last year and now is transferring out as he was passed on the Depth Chart... and... as he should have. He was a lightly recruited PWO for 2024. Those guys (90 percent of the time) aren't playing a whole lot of P4 football until they are Juniors or Seniors at best.

He's worthy of both a scholarship with CU and the opportunity to start somewhere else with some NIL $$$. But if CU wants a better run game for 2025.... we need a better version of what Cash was on the field last year.

He saved us when we were in big trouble and he held his own at the P5 level. He has earned a P5 scholly and a chance to start.

He also is one of those guys who´s floor and ceiling aren´t that far apart. His physical limitations mean he is very unlikely to ever become an elite center, and the Buffs under Prime aren´t aiming to be average.

I´d love to have him around another year or two to provide quality depth but the guys we are bringing in need to be better than Cash or we won´t be winning the games we need to win.

We don´t get upset when guys leave other programs and come to Boulder looking for a better situation for them, we shouldn´t be upset when one of ours does the same.

Cash can stay in Boulder, be a part of the Buffs, and not play much as he continues to get recruited over and pushed further down the depth chart or he can go someplace else to a mid-level P4 or better G5 program, be a starter and important player, and keep dreams he might have of playing in the NFL alive.

It's his choice, He doesn't owe us more than he has given and we don't owe him more than he has gotten.

Cash was decent in relief for the Buffs last year but his size isn't ideal. Getting with the right offensive line coach and putting out as much tape as possible is his unlikely path to the NFL. The Buffs are likely not the team to provide that to him.

Let's be honest, his best path is as a long snapper. Filling that role, and being serviceable (in college) or not too much of a negative (pro) backup center is where he provides the most value.

He could have done that here, but I'm guessing he thinks he has a chance to be more than that.

Note: it's also possible that he just loves playing the game, and he knows he won't get to play that much here next year.

His best path is in a pass happy spread offense. He's really good in pass protection. The challenge with him is that he can't win the point of attack by getting any movement in the run game.

The flip side of that is to ask if any numbers were ever retired by Nick Saban.
