2015 Coaching Carousel

little bo peep just took the HC job at youngstown state... wtf?
They pay him next to nothing, he gets to dominate (or should) at a school with good football tradition for its level, and he gets paid by Nebraska to coach at Youngstown until new job opportunities arise. win win.

College football is changing. Let's take advantage.

Cutliffe turned down Tennessee too a few years ago. Dude's making out OK at Duke, and, with hoops always in the spotlight, he's never going to have any pressure.

Yeah, at 60 he's got a good gig. He's got that job for life now probably. He'd probably get fired in Michigan before he could get it goin anyways.

Michigan wants Miles,

Going to end up with Inches.

I think the difference this time, after the season he just had, is he won't get a raise/extension out of LSU again. That would be one less reason to stay put this time around.

UM appears to be conducting a NU-after-Solich-type-search. I don't blame Coach Cut, as others point out, his age, his near bullet proof postion and reasonable success make it unlikely he is going anywhere...I wouldn't. LM is past his prime, I don't think it will end well for him at UM or LSU.

You mean walking away fabulously wealthy with tens of millions of dollars in his pocket? Yeah, gonna be a disaster for him.

This Michigan search is going to end in disaster

It would appear that the search hasn't even ended and it's already a disaster. It's got to be a huge slap in the face for the head coach at Duke (of all places) to tell Michigan "Thanks, but no thanks". A serious blow to the egos in Ann Arbor, for sure. Another ***** in the armor of the B1G. It's just not as attractive as it once was.

Not sure if this made it up here, but Bo Pelini is taking the Youngstown State job. Has a verbal offer. As far as Michigan goes, I'm not suprised. Yes, its Michigan, but you are still talking to an interim AD, and you are still dealing with fans who have different versions of perception vs. reality (see Nebraska). They'll get somebody, but this is going to be a Sarkisian type hire---They're gonna have to settle.

Reset.

SMU-Jones out, Morris in.
KU- Fat Charlie out, A&M WR coach David Beaty in, keeps Bowen as DC
NU- Pelini out, NU dials up the Mike Riley surprise, may bring in Frost as OC and Kevin Steele too. The band is getting back together, sort of....
Buffalo- hired a DIII guy
Tulsa- Blankenship out, apparently a lot of interest
UNLV- Hauck out, Bishop Gorman HC Sanchez in.
UF- Muschamp out and reportedly headed to Auburn as DC, Sparkles is the new head gator.
Michigan- Hoke out, Butch Jones says no thanks, talks continue with Harbaugh who won't talk seriously until NFL season is over, and other NFL'ers are being contacted, Steve Addazio BC HC, Greg Schiano and Kyle Whittingham from Da Yoots are on the list too. It looks like Miles may still be in the mix but not likely. Gary Pinkel is a dark horse, again, not likely. Cutccliffe says tahnks, but no thanks.
UH- fires Tony Levine

Secondary market-

CSU- first program to be poached, Orgeron, Matt Lubick, some guy from Ault or another willing to sign monstrous buyout laden contract are interested.
Oregon State- Mike Riley off to greener cornfields, in a huge surprise, OSU hires away Wiscy's HC Gary Andersen
Wiscy- Andersen bails to OSU...and then ?

If somebody would have tried to convince me that:
1) Mike Riley would become the NU coach
2) Sparkles would be the UF head guy
3) Anderson would leave UW for Oregon St

I would have called for the men with straight jackets. What a crazy carousel this year - and we are just getting started!

Mean we agree this is the best offseason in a while

seems to me like there is something he is getting away from. Bad Boss, Skeletons about to be exposed. Really weird.

Who would have thought in most years that the Big 10 would have three open jobs at once and that they would be Mich, Wisconsin, and Nebraska?

Wouldn't be a shock for the conference to have three openings but you would expect at least one of those openings to be at an Illinois, or Purdue, or Indiana, or even Iowa. All three schools with openings have historically had coaching stability and spent more time in the top 25 than out of it.

What does this mean about the future outlook for the Big 10

I think Indiana does very well next year, along with Minny.

I think he was born to be a DC, not HC, and will find the same success at YS that he had at NU.

Win 9 games a year and go to a bowl game? I'm sure the folks at Youngstown will be more than satisfied.
