2015 Coaching Carousel

NFL teams looking for coaches (so far)
49ers
Raiders
Jets
Bears
Falcons

You would think at least one of them will look to the college ranks, particularly with the recent success stories of Carroll and Harbaugh. The college coaching carousel may not be over yet.

Don't see San Fran doing it.....My guess is Dan Quinn (Seahawks DC). If Chicago doesn't part ways with Cutler, Mike Shanahan is a no-brainer IMO. He's the only guy who's been able to get through to Jay. Atlanta and the Jets could.....Oakland? Who knows? More importantly.......who cares?

LSU: LSU has offered John Chavis a three-year contract (including a $30,000 raise…yes $30k) with a clause that would terminate the deal after six months should Les Miles leave the school, as well as a different two-year contract without the so-called “Les clause,” according to Ross Dellenger of the Baton Rouge Advocate.

The rumor is Chavis will be leaving for A&M after this bowl game on a 4 year deal. For some reason, LSU decided to be skimpy with the raise they offered. And that clause about Les Miles leaving apparently really irked Chavis. Almost seems like LSU is setting the table for Les to be gone soon. Chavis has kept that defense as the most consistently good part of their team over the years, seems really strange they'd let him leave now.

Chavis gone? Wow. Dude is close to Miles. Terrible mistake by LSU to let him go.

Del Rio to Westwood would be a downgrade at that position, IMO. Mora is the better coach. Has Del Rio ever recruited a single player?
unless you count lobbying his son around the college ranks, finding a spot for him? funny how he (little del rio) went to osu for Riley and now Riley is gone, maybe he (little del rio) transfers to little red now?

just a reminder I am not a del rio fan - actually, I think he kinda sucks.

I'd hate that. The first person Del Rio would hire would be Orgeron for recruiting and would be a huge upgrade from Mora.

Mora always found a way to do way less with more talent and this season's effort was a perfect example: he had the talent to just blow up U$C, but struggled mightily to beat UT, Cal and CU. A better coach would have had that bunch in the Big Four, with but a single loss----maybe even undefeated.

Typical. I like Mora right where he is.

Randy Shannon to Florida is a strong hire. A great recruiter in the South and knows Florida well. Also a good coach. Will really help on the D side of the ball.

Still amazed he didnt bring one guy from CSU. I mean its great he can put together his dream team, but bringing together a bunch of guys that havent worked together under a new boss, that can be problematic too.

It is also a big FU to the staff that helped him go 10-2.

His hires at CSU were similar, a group of guys he thought would be good at MWC level.

Doing same thing at UF. You need coaches that can recruit/coach at next level. MacIntyre should have looked around for a few guys as well.

Well he was an OC before CSU, he didnt have a staff to bring with him really. And I agree about MacIntyre, but there's a difference between looking around for a few guys, and assembling a brand new staff from scratch. As Highland said above, the CSU guys just helped him get the Florida job, but not one of them is good enough to bring along? Seems weird.

Kevin Gemmell just retweeted something saying that Harbaugh is trying to get Stanford DC Lance Anderson to go to Michigan so maybe the DJ Durkin sweepstakes are not over yet.
