2016 CFB News & Notes (National)

Watching Hard Knocks and Goff doesn't know which direction the sun rises. How about that Cal degree?

In a few years, drafting Goff before Wentz will look as bizarre as taking Vince Young and Matt Leinart ahead of Jay Cutler.

I was at my buddy's house Friday night, and his son's high school friend Evan Baylis - the Oregon tight end - came by. He's not impressed by any of the QB candidates there and thinks they could be in for a challenging season.
Why is Baylis not in Eugene?

Oregon's got a trimester system and sometimes their schedule is wonky.

These guys can eat a dick.

Michigan jumps out too. Hard for anyone to argue MSU hasn't been the best football team in the state in recent years

Pitt over Penn State.
TCU #1 in Texas.
Arizona over ASU.
Marshall over West Virginia.

There's quite a bit of click bait built into this.

Obviously the clowns that produced this map could not find the admissions building of a real university even with a sage sherpa guide leading them

College game day at Lambeau for LSU-Wisky, that is going to be a kick ass time.
That would be an awesome time, but unfortunately, I don't think the game will be very competitive. I'm very surprised it's not at Bama/USC. That's clearly the marquee game of the weekend, IMO.

Really? I don't think that one is going to be very competitive either. If you are looking for actual good games OU-Houston is number 1 closely followed by FSU-Mississippi.

From a atmosphere perspective Lambeau will be awesome though, when I went about half the people were rocking UW clothing along with their packer gear and if that place gets that crazy on a Sunday I can't imagine a Saturday college football game.

Don't get me wrong, I think that game is going to have an electric atmosphere. I just think a game between two blue bloods who travel well, at Jerry World, is the more marquee match up. They are both on ABC, and the Bama/SC game is the prime time game, so that's just why I'm surprised. I think it's 100% based on it being at Lambeau.

Do not be surprised if USC surprises them, doubtful, but wouldn't shock me. They can match them with both size and talent. Alabama is probably deeper but they have a question at qb.

What are the thoughts on USC this year? We know they have talent. I have been assuming they could be pretty darn good this year, but I haven't been following too close.

My thoughts are they are SC and they will throw talent at you. I'd think they would get up for that one.

I think they made the right coaching hire and will get back to a devastating run game coupled with big play passing. They're going to be very good.

That schedule is brutal though. It sucks seeing elite PAC 12 teams like Stanford and USC schedule like that while ACC & SEC teams are playing 4 cupcakes plus Wake Forest Kentucky, etc. I think it'll keep the Pac out of the playoffs again.

I think USC made the wrong coaching hire and will continue to lose 3 games a year, not able to take that next step against the elite teams like Stanford, ND and even UCLA to an extent.
