2018 defensive improvement?

Javier was always athletic and quick for his size, people had much to say about it in spring 2017. Problem is that he isn’t stout. He gets bent backwards. Part of that is conditioning, but I worry the bigger part is strength in his core and posterior chain. The muscle he has is in all the wrong places.

Topou was built like an 3-4 NT, the back of his legs were as broad as tree trunks and he had the back of a gorilla. When you hit him he didn’t move. He was slow as hell, but it didn’t matter.

Don’t care so much about quickness and athleticism at that spot. Just take the center and a guard and shove them back to the QB. Do that and I promise the other guys will get the pass rush done.

Keep Gs from free run to LBs. I don’t see him on the field much in pass rush situations this year.
