2020-2021 Bowl Games Thread

I was expecting a non-competitive game, not because tOSU is bad but because Bama is beyond loaded. Without the strip sack this game might be exactly that but the Buckeyes are doing what they have to.

Need to keep it going though. If Bama gets up by a couple of TDs or more don't know that Ohio State is built to come back against a team that good.

Sark is such a great OC.

If most people were calling plays, just about every call would be for Harris or Smith. He manages to balance that with making teams pay for rolling the defense to them and keeps them honest.

Interesting that both teams are choosing to take the fair catch option on kick-offs despite both having guys with tremendous speed and ability as returners.

Is it because they recognize that the other team has an entire coverage squad of amazing athletes and the probability of breaking a significant return is slim or is it more not wanting to risk a fumble or penalty that would bury them deep and potentially turn field position for the opponent.

With that TD tOSU may be forced to start taking more chances. A score by them, any kind of score going in to half would be a boost and may be almost necessary if they want to stay in the game.

I was just going to say to keep the 15 but treat it like unsportsmanlike and ejection after 2
I like the ejection. Otherwise what is to stop a defense from headhunting the biggest offensive weapon. 15 yards is an easy trade if it eliminates a top threat for an entire game. You are talking about a rule that was put in because of the number of concussions and injuries that occurred from that type of play. The disparate effect of targeting type tackles necessitated the draconian penalty. Obviously it still happens routinely in games so maybe the punishment should be increased, but it definitely should not be decreased.

I mean, they’re just letting him run free. It is wild.
They've got Shaun Wade trying to jam him at the LOS but he can't get his hands on him. Wade is maybe a R1 pick. Basically, you can't play man coverage against Bama.

Respect for calling timeout & coming out throwing.

Love it when a team doesn't let off the gas until the opponent raises the white flag.

They have Wade in press coverage but isn’t getting the press part. The motion for Smith is big to find mismatches against linebackers and safeties.
